Just curious.

It's replaced "CSI", "NYPD Blue" and the dearly departed "X Files" as my favorite TV show.

Anyone else watch it?

I've wanted to see it but always miss it. I loved the main guy (Chicklets or something) on The Commish which I thought was a great show.

Weird - I've wanted to watch it, too. But it's one of those shows that I never know exactly when it's on, so I always miss it. Something to do with it being on FX, buried among all those reruns, I guess.

It's on the FX network at 10pm on Tuesdays.

However, they do run repeats a couple of times throughout the week. As they say, check your local listings...

I think they rerun it on Friday and Sunday nights.

But here's the cool thing: starting last night (Wednesday), they're running all episodes (12, I believe) in order, two a night, starting a 10pm, followed by another episode at 11pm.

Last night was the pilot and second episode, tonight will be episodes 3 and 4, and continuing on over the next 4 days or so, leading up to Tuesday's season finale.

So now would be an EXCELLENT time, because in the space of about 4-5 days, you can catch the entire series. Set your VCR!

I seem drawn to cop/crime shows (see initial post) and this one is so unique in that the good guys aren't always good. Like it or not, it probably depicts the gray area and moral ambiguity cops face and deal with better than any other show.

Definitely not always a "root for the good guys" show, because sometimes they're worse than the criminals. But it's well-written and acted and seems so gritty and real.

Like "CSI", it has a very cinematic, captivating filming style and "look" to it. Combined with the music, editing, action, dialog, etc. it makes for an extremely entertaining and thought-provoking hour of TV.

    In my opinion anyway.

Michael Chiklis is the guy's name and he's great in this show, as is the whole cast.

Up to this show, "NYPD Blue" was the groundbreaker in language, violence, nudity, etc. on TV. "The Shield", however, makes "NYPD Blue" look like an NBC "must see" sitcom.

It's VERY raw, to say the least. But I don't find it gratuitous or tacky. It just seems like you're watching a documentary or are a fly on the wall at a tough L.A. police precinct.

Yep. Great show. The thing I love the most about it is the moral ambiguity of Michael Chiklis' character.

Wow. FX has other shows than M*A*S*H now?

I haven't seen FX since I moved from MA up to NH in July. My cable company (Charter) doesn't carry it. I have digital too, and still no FX. I still get more channels than I did, and much better internet service than Adelphia used to provide. Maybe FX will be coming soon now that Charter has bought out Adelphia.

Sounds like an interesting show. I haven't really watched 'network TV' in years, just a show here or there. I'm still waiting for shows to improve again. The 'mold' on the current sitcoms really needs to be broken.

Vic Mackey owns all of your punk asses. Michael Chicklis is a bad mofo. Great writing, great acting. Funnyass humor. The show has it all. Must see, dammit.
