New Mac Pro 2013 says Forbes
Anyone have a link from Apple's official statement?
This is from Forbes:
"Apple said today that it is working on new models and designs for its Macintosh desktops — the Mac and the Mac Pro — and that they will likely be released in 2013.
The company confirmed a New York Times report, citing an unnamed Apple executive yesterday, that new desktops are in play. That comes after it was criticized yesterday by Apple loyalists including Andy Hertzfeld for failing to provide a significant update to the Mac Pro, a high-powered, expandable machine that is used by programmers and developers. Apple quietly updated the Mac Pro yesterday (that is, it didn’t mention the machine on stage at the Worldwide Developers Conference or issue a press release)."

That's in no way official. It's not a confirmation of anything. They can't say "the company said" without providing any more information than that.
And if it's true, Apple apparently doesn't want our money or business anymore.
"An executive did assure me, however, that new models and new designs are under way, probably for release in 2013."
If the point of that statement was to reduce FUD about the desktop Macs, it's the worst way of doing it I've ever heard. While many tech companies have a "road map" Apple has stated often that it doesn't comment on future products. Other than the obvious that Apple is always developing something that is new (iPads, iPhones, ?) the comment is meaningless.
New Mac Pro with RAM soldered directly to the logic board as well as the "new" Radeon 6850. Apple insist 8 GB of non-upgradable RAM is just fine for a Mac Pro, and video cards aren't really important now anyways.
