Think about Xs history... each version goes through over a dozen iterations. All they are doing is drastically shortening that cycle and getting users to pay up 9 months after Lion's release. They aren't marketing it that way, but it's starting to sound like a subscription kind of model, whereby you pay some money regularly. 9 figure paychecks for the execs!
This post MIGHT make sense if they were still charging $129 for each OS release, but come on! It's $19!!! So how about you shut up and just assume you're still paying $129 only it lasts for six and half years, before you need to pay again?
$20 is awesome. I thought Snow Leopard and Lion were flukes at only $29 each. But perhaps mac sales have jumped so much over the years that their pricing model now allows them to charge as little as $20 because they sell so many more of them.
My MBP was only bought in November of 2011 and I'll likely get ML when it comes out.
All hardware sales have jumped to the point that software for Apple is insignificant... this is what will eventually kill of Microsoft.
Does anyone know if buying Lion at this point will get some sort of credit to Mountain Lion? I'm on Snow Leopard and meet system requirements for Mountain Lion, I dont mind paying 30 for what is now 20 update but I need the update to get onto iCloud as MobileMe is ending on the 30th.
Id rather not have to buy both or just buy Lion and be behind an OS any longer. Anyone have any ideas how I can go about this? I've talked to AppleCare and they have no idea if there's any sort of credit offering...Has anyone dealt with this in the past?

The problem is my MobileMe/iCloud account. I can't convert until I'm on lion at least. This creates a problem if my account and/or data us in jeopardy for whatever time between the 30th and when I can buy and install mountain lion which is still not certain.

Just convert from your iDevice; can't you do that?

Not if they start treating their customers like trash.

Or better yet, use ms model and charge $300 or more every 2 years!

Isn't that the Adobe model? Ah, no, the Adobe model is "charge full price for a x.x.x release".

Then why not just wait and pay only $20?
I think I'll just hold out for the next release of OS X 10.9 Ocelot. Maybe they will have added the features I really wanted by then: http://jeff-with-a-g.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/os-x-109-ocelot.html

No, no, if you have ever had to support OS X server, you'd know there are very good reasons to hate it.
