    That's "Big-A** Table."

Surface is "Small-A** Table."  Whole different thing.

Fail on Price, Fail on LTE and Fail on Battery Life. The RT not being retina is competing price wise with the $399 iPad 2 and the pro will get crush by cheap ultra books. IMHO no chance against the iPad because of the apps but android can get beat by win8 tablet productivity in the work place...

Also I don't like 16:9 on 19" tablets only works for movies for everything else it sucks...

Congratulations Microsoft on making your first prototype.  Maybe they can answer the same questions shot at apple like: how hot does it get; can you use it under direct sunlight; is the screen less reflective; is it 4g compatible; what about the camera specs; can I load android software and windows software; whats the resolution; does it dictate; is the keyboard lit for low light; is it serviceable; is it a better green product; does your factory have good working conditions; whats the price; who gets to sell it; does it come with a chinese compatible browser; Will it come with a new Internet Explorer; what companies are going to make games for it; will it come in a bigger size; how long of a battery life does it have; does it have tracking software; can I mirror the screen onto my TV; how do I transfer files to it or from it; will the signal reception drop if I hold it a certain way; can you engrave it; what kind of discount do you give to students; Can I use it without the keyboard; is the screen scratch proof; can I use a stylus; how do I load movies on it; is it airprint compatible; can I transfer my apps to it; can I skype; can I watch tv; can I upload pictures from my DSLR; Can I use itunes to sync all my music onto it; how do I hook it to the video input of the class overhead screen; whats the warrantee; do I need a 2 year contract; does it have GPS; Can I make calls; How do you configure mail; does it have bluetooth; what does it cost to replace the battery; can I go to sites with flash; can I use a mouse with it; do I need a converter when I travel outside of united states; will it set itself on fire on the plane; does it take a normal size sim card; does it come in white; when will the next version come out; is it faster than an ipad and nook; can I use kindle on it;  how do I transfer my contacts; have you done a drop test; is it weather proofed; what accessories are available; whats your return policy if I don't like it; Can I tether my phone or camera; what languages does it come with; Can I run more than one app at a time; what are the limitations of your tablet; whats the software situation; what would Steve Job think of it;  would you say it is a substitute to the PC; what protection do I have against viruses; How do I make it read stories to my kid; what kind of photography software can I use to edit my photos; do you have any art programs; will Word and Excel be standard; Where can I demo it; Do you sell demos; whats the difference between and Ivy and a Arm; If I accidentally placed a hot pan on the screen will it melt; will your AC adapter plug into other appliances; How do I clean the screen and keyboard; can I connect my thunderbolt drive; how many USB 3.0 does it have; Does it have a lockable screen; Does it have parental control over purchases; Can I use it as a second monitor;  will it update my mail automatically while in sleep mode; can I switch between google maps and apple maps; does it have something similar to Siri; Which car manufacturers are interested implementing your tablets; Do you have benchmark we can look and compare with; what is it worth used; what is the actual cost of making your tablet; Do you have suicides at your plant and how are you compensating the families; If presented your wife her choice of your tablet or a ipad, which would she choose.

What a terrible product. It makes no sense at all. Let's see. It's inferior to a laptop and it's inferior to a tablet. It's trying to be too many things at once, and it does none good.

A Mac laptop is way better, because of a real, much better keyboard, a much larger, superior trackpad and you can angle the screen any which way you want to. There isn't a fucking kickstand hanging out from behind your device. The side view of the MS tablet looks disgusting. I'm about to throw up here. I'll choose any Mac laptop over this MS tablet any day of the week.

An iPad is way better as a tablet due to a number of reasons. Firstly, the screen ratio on an iPad is much better and it doesn't discriminate against portrait mode, unlike most Android tablets and these MS tablets. An iPad can be used in any orientation you please. Widescreen tablets look retarded in portrait mode, way too narrow. Why would I want to type on that flimsy looking MS keyboard when I have an Apple bluetooth keyboard that I already pair with my iPads? Am I trying to step down in quality or something? Am I looking for a worse typing experience or something?

I doubt that I'm going to sell my far superior laptops and far superior tablets so that I can switch to a mediocre device that tries to do it all, but accomplishes those tasks worse than what's already out there on the market. And just for the record, I find the Asus prime tablets to be useless too. I'm not a fan of those tablets that try to be laptops too.  It's a stupid idea made for people who just don't get it.

Of course the Microsoft Surface tablet has a keyboard.

How else are you going to hit ctrl-alt-del?

I'm a civil engineer ad I get everything done while on the rode in the iPad. Cad, planing software, etc... This notion that the iPad is not a laptop replacement is from non Ipswich users. The camera kit gives me USB support and there are tons of keyboard for typing. Everything else is in the app store both normal and professional apps. I use a win 7 machine on he office I I can do the same hung on bit desktop and iPad.

IMHO the winRT laptop will be useless for years until it get the apps the iPad have..

This new device is also like the devices, albeit not as elegant, made by a famous company that's known for creating products with tight integration of hardware and software.  I wonder what company this is...

See, the irony of that statement, is that Ballmer was the one who opposed the Xbox. He opposed Microsoft getting into the console hardware business. He argued in favor of beating the Sony PlayStation by licensing [the version of] Windows OS [for what became Xbox] to Dell. Basically, he wanted to regurgitate Microsoft's licensing strategy that helped them to beat Macintosh in the 80s and 90s, except on consoles.

Ballmer also opposed the Courier tablet, which, if actually built, would be undeniably original and different. But no, they put their money on iPad clone design running Windows.

And Bomber waddled out on the stage trying to look like an Apple guy for this? No wonder the CEO of Nokia is being driven home by security guards... Given that Bomber is going into the hardware business and Nokia collapses, where does that leave Dell, Acer, Asus, HP, etc..???? It's gonna get bloody...

My advice is stand out of the way and let the collision happen on it's own...

Ok I just watched the minute long Surface commercial and not once did they actually show the operating system being used. I saw a bunch of liquid metal wanna be pebbles and I saw a cover magnetically attach to the device. That was it. No shot of anyone typing on the keyboard or using the touch screen. If the whole point of Windows Surface is its not a "toy" or just a consumption device this ad certainly failed too show off any of the productive capabilities of the device. If this keyboard integrated into the cover was all that why not show someone typing on it with ease?

Collectively? Probably "Thanks for killing Android tablets for Apple, Microsoft."

Whoops the Surface crashed already during the presentation, ah well just grab another one!

I guess the "RT" stands for "Reboot Time!"

That commercial was clearly supposed to be gadget porn. They're trying to give it an aura of clever design and rich, high quality materials. Somebody desperately wants their commercial to say, "See? We can out-Apple Apple!"

A shame. Microsoft could have shipped Courier tablet instead. But I think they're deathly afraid of a post-PC era without Windows.
