He obviously has a very skewed and different view of reality than most people. I think a combination of abuse as a child, celebrity, money, and maybe even a chemical imbalance makes him the way he is.

It seems like he has NO idea that a 44 year-old man sleeping in the same room with non-related children is NOT a normal, socially acceptable practice. I can't say that it surprises me, though. If you have such a distorted view of reality -- and live such a sheltered life -- you just wouldn't know.

I feel bad for him. I really do. He IS an interesting case of societal pressures on a person's personality and appearance. I almost think of him living a life that IS an episode of Jerry Springer -- the early years -- when Jerry had people on who weren't necessarily cheating on their fiancee' for their sister, but had some sort of unique story to them.

I feel even worse for his children. How f*cked up are they going to be when they grow up. Possibly worse than he is now. Does he REALLY love them: I don't think so. I think he thinks of them as living, breathing toys that he gets to keep at his beacon call. I say that because people who really love their children don't do what he does to his kids.

Oh well. At least I feel better knowing I don't have the screwed up existence he does. The $$$ would be nice, though...but you wouldn't catch me buying $39,000 chess sets.

They really tried to imply that he was molesting those kids...because normal people just can't explain his behavior any other way! If he isn't doing something sexual to those kids, mainstream society just can't explain it!

To tell the truth, I don't think he is molesting kids-he's pretending like he's a 13 year old having a slumber party, at 44. Very sad, but at the same time, you can't deny that he's not living his dreams. He gets everything he wants. Isn't that what everybody wants?

I think the majority of his claims are pure lies only to cause controversy bring attention to him.

He knows his career is going downhill and is grasping at any opportunity to capture the headlines again. Why would he give full access to a reporter unless he wanted this stuff to go out.

Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if he was much different from many of the rich and famous, behind closed doors.

Yeah I watched it. Can you imagine if he really does adopt 2 children from each continent like he wants to? That would add up, all these kids, to a lot of people growing up in a very strange house. Can you imagine what the real world's going to be like for these kids if they ever have to face it alone? And at the end, didn't it say that he was worth $350 Million? Well, that is a lot of money, but if he walks into a place and drops $6 Million on vases and stuff (or whatever he ended up buying) like it's nothing, that's gonna add up and he might find himslef in the next two years not being able to life this live he created. It's hard to imagine him not being rich, but he's not the king of pop anymore, he's a frail, creepy monkey boy blowing his fortune by living in a cartoon world. Man. When they did that animation morphing the old Michael Jackson through all the old pictures of him, into what he looks like now, that creeped me out.

That's just the thing, if he wanted to be left alone, none of us would ever see him.

Instead, he pulls stupid stunts and relases lame albums to try and stay in our attention.

    I agree with bunge 100%.

I watched the interview and the creepiest people on there were the people obsessing over him; from his crying fans to the journalist who just can't believe that he has intentions other than pedophilia.

Let the guy friggin' imagine he's a child, who does it hurt? It's almost like they want him to molest children.

He's delusional, leave him the hell alone. So he gets plastic surgery, SO WHAT!? Who doesn't get plastic surgery in that business?

Some friends had a little dinner party and we watched the whole ugly thing unfold, laughing and ad-libbing our way through it like an episode of MST3K....it was great fun.

    Our thoughts:

-he's not molesting the kids, he's just desperately trying to be the kid he was never allowed to be.

-nobody he employs tells him "NO"

-we STILL can't get enough of freak shows

    The important word is alone.

If he was alone, i won't matter at all of him, however he is in charge of many childs, and the fact he is a star does not give him more rights than anothers people.

Strange that he want to sleep with childs, my childs doesnt want to sleep altogether especially, they dream to have their own separate room. My childs are too young to have sex, at the contrary of Mickael, they are naturally "innocent".

Odd that someone who claim to live in childhood, have the right to raise a family : would you allow a 13 years old (even with many money, an huge heritage for example) to be in charge of a family ?

I expect that these kids, will not suffer lately of mental disease. It will not be the last time that kids have a bad childhood, but the Michael Jackson thing, is a strange and weird example.

His family stole the childhood of Mickael, but it's not a reason to stole or to twist the childhood of other kids.

    Compulsive viewing. creepy tho

There's been huge press coverage here in the UK, with the tabloids going crazy over the whole sleeping in a room with children thing.

on balance, I think he probably is innocent (and came over as an asexual innocent. virgin?). I don't think the interviewer (bashir) was trying to accuse him of paedophilia - as Cosmonut sez, Bashir was trying to find out whether MJ had any comprehension that sleeping in the same room as minors, however innocently, leaves him wide open to accusations of being a kiddy fiddler.

    creepy stuff:

    - the crying fans. really disturbed me

    - the mannequins in the hotel room.

    - feeding the baby

    - buying a load of hideous urns.

    good stuff:

    - Neverland. loads of toys - train, go-kart/car things, and he's building a rollercoaster. If I become excessively and ridiculously rich, I'll buy some land and start construction straight away

    - climbing trees. completely agree with him there.

did Joe Jackson sexually abuse the children, as well as beat them? has that ever come out? would explain a lot if so.

    hang loose

I'm not a MJ fan. But I actually walked away feeling sorry for him in ways I never thought I would.

I'd be interested to see how I would have turned out to have all the money I ever needed PLUS be worshipped by many. I can't say I'd fare much better, cept for the surgery stuff.

I thought the tv production company and or the interviewer was very unethical and seemed quick to cut his lifestyle down.

In the end, I like Michael MORE now than I did, and those TV bastards less.

Maybe that's why Jackson agreed to do it. He knew the reaction many would have to the one-sided journalism he was going to deal with, and how it would get portrayed on TV...

Or he's just a nut job...

    Some thoughts:

The man is obviously screwed up. The celebrity, the money, past abuse...whatever. He's really screwed.

That being said, I don't think he has molested anyone. He does fail to realize however, as one poster said, that this type of admission is not going to be accepted by mainstream society.

Financially, he is in tough shape. His spending habits are completely out of control. He often spends $100,000 a week on hotel rooms. The maintenence/upkeep costs on Neverland are in the hundreds of thousands per month, I believe. He owns a collection of albums and other recording-industry items (Beatles?) worth about $400 million. He already owes $200 million against them. things are not good.

His career has totally tanked. He looks like a freak. In summary, I don't believe he is a child molester, I DO believe he has had more than one or two plastic surgeries, including surgery to make him look like a woman and make him white. The man used to (and still does?) sleep in an oxygen tank. Wow. I think it is quite possible the whole interview was staged to get his name in the press again. thoughts on that?

    *holds hand in the air*

Excuse me...wait a second. I never accused Jackson of paedophilia, and I never accused Bashir of trying to accuse Jackson of it. Everybody get that?

That means that arguably, most people look at that practice as being a bit odd. I think Jackson doesn't realize that most people probably think that. He just doesn't know. There's no mention or reference to paedophilia in there at all.

I'm not defending Jackson, but todays society is so fixated on controversy and salacious details. Sexual connotations are brought up when there could very well be nothing to speak of.

There is an implicit Taboo that runs through most cultures that we know of that states that it is 'not right' that an adult sleep with a child (that is not immediate family in the case of A-sexual sleep)

He is so isolated and living in such denial of Death that he truly doesn't understand the issue

He wants everything to be about snuggles and lovey-dovey-sleepy-gleepy: and in one way, he IS RIGHT: namely that if the whole world felt the same way

without aggressive sexuality and adult anxieties, then the world would be a better place

The classical problem then rears its ugly head:

this means that he represses these aggressive tendencies because THEY DO EXIST in everybody,

and when repressed, they return in unconsciouse way, they assert themselves in actions (explaining his bizarre behavior?!) . . .

and if these sexual and aggressive tendencies are denied wholesale, their return, -the Return of the Repressed- is doubly dangerous to his fragile Ego construction . . . and to those around him.

anyway, the most telling thing in the whole show to me was how he responded to the question about the Tutenkhamen Tomb:

"would you want to be buried in one of these?"

"No, I don't want to be buried"
