I was disappointed with the last 24...and I thought I was watching some really hardcore television until the last 5 minutes of the episode where they took the bite right out of it...

[Spoiler alert for those of you who care about 24 and missed last Tuesday's episode...]
Well, I really doubt FCC standards would allow the murder of innocent children to be aired on network TV. The way Jack was able to 'stage' it and make it look like he killed the terrorist's kid in order to extract info on the plot... well I thought it was quite brilliant. Though, the point has been raised that if this were reality, the bad guy wouldn't budge until he actually saw his kid dead, no question.
What was amusing about this show was at one point you see all these disturbing images of children held hostage, cut to commercial, and then it's a Victoria's secret commercial. So you go from disturbing to arousing in 3 seconds. Thank you Fox.
Ok, I should stop cause I'm off topic and I could probably start a 24 thread all by itself... and hopefully it would be active for the rest of the season.
"MASH" hasn't been mentioned I don't think, too bad, probably some of the best single episodes of TV viewing ever in that series.
"All in the Family" Also a goody.
And though it isn't cool to say this especially because I realize that they're crap, I'm gonna have to say that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is some of the better network TV going on right now for its market. Decent escapist schlock for the kiddies.
"Oz" and "Sopranos" are some good stuff too, and "Sex in the City" Funny thing, I almost don't watch any of these shows on TV, all recorded or rented.
Hmm....now I am watch less and less TV nowhere days because of work, soical life, etc and another reasons is the british TV are getting crap all time - Yawn.
No orders :
The Simspons (Now I watch that very very rare) <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[oyvey]" />
Fasiers,
NYPD Blue,
Any good films (general),
Any good current affairs,
erm, could not think of any good shows because I don't watch TV very much.
I dislikes is :- soaps (rubbish actors), celebrities, and others rubbish ones.
I can't comment on "favourites of all time" but most recently I've been watching 30 Rock Season 4. Not bad. Previously, The Cleveland Show... but it started to get too crass.
Imagine... 7 years ago we had Angel, Charmed, Mutant-X, Roswell.
TV has actually had a bit of a reboot these past few years with better shows like Galactica, Lost, 30 Rock...

That's why I love Angel so much. There's so much depth to all of the characters, especially the supporting ones like Cordelia and Wesley. And every once in a while Angel goes all evil and feels like killing everyone. Very cool. It's really my favorite series and I'm surprised so few people on this thread have mentioned it.
Has that crap "Charmed" been cancelled? They should have known better than to cast Shannon Doherty for anything (remember the "I Hate Brenda" anti-fanclub and Doherty's dishonorable discharge from 90210 and her crybaby, selfish crap?) And then Doherty's replacement "charmed one" was uuuuug-ly, and a poor actress to boot. Plus the characters all started acting alike. Really horrible directing.
The other nouveau teenage/twenty-something sci-fi show that turned out to be crap is "Mutant-X". My girlfriend still watches it because the cast is "hot" but it's really turned out to be junk in terms of writing and variety of story line.
Angel and Buffy are really the only watchable shows in the genre.
Even "Roswell" is just "Dawson Creek" with aliens and less interesting stories.
Gawddammnit almost a decade and that Sex In The City franchise JUST WON'T DIE ALREADY!!!!

Also, can you imagine, in 10 years our TV watching habits, means of distribution, SO MUCH HAS CHANGED. 2003. Who would have imagined how big Apple would get, the iPhone, iPad, Macs still going strong. WOW. A bit mindblowing, really.
