Addiction To Chewing Gum?

I think I may have a serious addiction to chewing gum. I probably chew about 15 pieces or more per day of sugarless Extra Polar Ice or Original flavor gum. I dont know if its an actual dependancy like cigarettes or something but I feel like I need it. I get excited when I start chewing a new piece. I think that its pretty harmless for the most part considering that its 5 calories per piece.

Does anyone else have a similar addiction?

Are you addicted or do you just have bad breath? Personally, I have TMJ which prevents any gum chewing on my part. If the root cause of your addiction is the breath issue, I would have suggest some listerine strips.

I'm addicted to the Extra Polar Ice too, well at least while I'm in school.

some people have (what i've heard referred to as) an 'oral fixation' where they gotta have something (lewd jokes aside) in their mouth all the time. like gum, food, cigs, cigars, drugs, etc. when its something like chewing gum, and the dangerous effects are nil (or not yet discovered ) then its not something to worry about. if u step up to cigarettes (may i recommend marlboros?), then u may want to evaluate whether ur willing to take on the dangerous risks (lung cancer, asthma, eternal happiness, etc...).

     Why?

I usually chew gum when I notice myself clenching my teeth at work during the day. I'll get so focused on what I'm doing that my mouth tenses up to the point of discomfort. A piece of ECLIPSE Polar Ice usually does the trick, freshens my breath, and clears out my sinuses at the same time.

My govt wants to stop people from littering and putting gum on the railway doors which causes a delay.

Singapore is famous for being clean and green, and it comes at a price.

I've been chewing so much gum lately, which I attribute to quitting smoking. I went from a pack of cigarettes a day to about 3 or 4 cigarettes a week in under a month. After that I have been able to go three weeks without a cigarette. I'm 19 and have smoked since I was 13. I've been buying Dentyne Ice, the ones in the plastic capsule things in the cardboard slide box deal. I've been chewing about 2 packs of that a day, which is about 24 pieces a day. I mean, I brush my teeth regularly and whatnot, so it's not a bad thing. But I can't go without the gum. I've been able to conquer the Nictotine addiction part of it without a huge problem, it sucks and all, but I can deal with that. My problem is not actually smoking, I actually enjoy it. If there were nicotine-free cigarettes that were not as bad for you, I'd totally switch to that without that much of a problem. So with going through almost 15 packs of this gum a week, I decided to start putting the gum back in the plactic bubble it came from when I'm done chewing it. Then I started telling my girlfriend that she couldn't have any of my gum unless she put it back in the package when she was done with it. Then I started filling up a whole pack with all the pieces where they came from after they had been chewed, writing "RECYCLE" on them with a black Sharpie marker and leaving them in random public places (ie. Tables on campus).

So anyway, yeah, I think I have a gum problem. But it's really weird.

That's like saying that drunk driving is too much of a problem, so nobody gets to drive. You wanna get somewhere, take the bus!

cigars have no nicotine in them. also, at some smoke shops you can buy loose tobacco, for ur own rolling (most of which lacks nicotine). rolling papers are cheaper than dirt. also, marijuana doesn't have nicotine in it. i hayt to hear that someone stops smoking. nobody likes a quitter.

Drunk drivers in my country will have their licences revoked for life and jailed. Singapore is a safe country becos the laws are harsh.

That's where what's-his-face was caned several years ago for marking on a car, isn't it? It was a big U.S./Singapore controversy.

But cigars taste like ass, and I don't like pot because I get stupid and tired, two things I really don't like. I did buy roolleys for a while, but I got strep throat or something from them or something. But not buying cigarettes is probably a better idea in the long run, since I quit my job three weeks ago.
