The Simpsons.

Well, the show many of us love just did its 300th episode tonight. I was reading <a href="http://www.ew.com/ew/article/commentary/0,6115,417748~3~0~25bestand1,00.html"; target="_blank">this article</a> about the best 25 episodes (and the worst one) and was wondering what others thought. I'm terrible at remember particular episodes, so I'll abstain, but I want to hear what others think.

Have at it!

Feh, these two weren't that great. I've seen MUCH better episodes. They weren't the worst either at least.

"300" & "301" were gewd. i've been asked before to come up with a favorite ep before. i can't. i know i liked the first bunch of seasons more than some of the more recent. i think the way it generally works is, whichever one i haven't seen in a while (and therefore not remember very well) is very good.

The Seven Sisters scene was the best. The girl in my class that went to Columbia...excatly like the cartoon. The girl from my class that went to Smith? Lesbian. The one that went to Vassar...naassssty.

It's from the creators of The Simpsons, though.

I don't know. Lisa misspelling a word? It's just not "Lisa." I mean, come on! I'm in college and never misspell anything.

I recently took out a couple of DVDs with earlier episodes from the local library (I believe they were 2nd season), and noticed that things were much slower paced back then. Not so much happening so fast...

Great episodes, both new and old. I tend to remember certain hilarious scenes, rather than whole episodes.

Funny foreign tidbit: In Sweden (where I worked for a while) TV executives thought cartoon=children's show, and stuck it in a children's slot until somebody paid closer attention to the content (Note: In Sweden, as is common in most European countries with small population, foreign TV shows are simply subtitled, rather than dubbed. Although most Swedes speak English very well - growing up un subtitled American TV shows certainly helps - it takes a very good grasp of the English language *and* American society to understand how cynical the Simpsons really are... <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[surprised]" />

There's one episode that, while watching, struck me as being very very good, as if it had all that's good (to me) about the Simpsons in concentrated form. It's where they go to Itchy & Scratchy land. So, of course, I'm pleased to find it's in that list, somewhere at #7, is it?

They left off my favorite episode "Hurricane Neddy."

A tornado destroys (only) Ned's house the townsfolk build him a crappy new house and he's institutionalized, revealing the source of all the "diddly" stuff.

On of the best lines: Ned's beatnik parents talking to child psychologist (paraphrase): "We don't believe in punishment of any kind-free thinking, man. But you gotta help us with Ned, doc. We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas!"

The one that stands in my mind was the one where Homer gets really overweight wearing a house dress and working from home using a PC.

When the computer prompts him to press any key to continue, he freaks out because he can't find the "any" key! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

Satchmo-then to Marge when he realizes he can just press y instead of typing yes: "Well, 'Miss No Longer Physically Attracted To Me,' guess who just tripled their output?"

The Simpsons are great (I remember their start waaaay back on the Tracy Ullman show).

But the color pallet they use is nauseating. I can only bear it for 30 minutes. Still they are an American classic.

    It's hard to pick favorites, but amazing episodes would be;

    Guatemalan Insanity Peppers (Chili Cook-Off)

    Lisa becomes vegetarian

    Homer's Medical Marijuana

The one where Bart takes the car to the place where the world fair was in like 86

The one where the whole world dies excpet Homer because he was in a bomb shelter.

Wow, it is hard to think of whole episodes on the spot. But the Halloween episodes always rule.

Oh yeah, and the episode that was like 27 short stories about Springfield.

Probably one of my favorite episodes is where Burns steals the trillion dollar bill and the three flee to Cuba...so many classic lines:

"American tax dollars will go to our allies who fought so poorly and surrendered so readily"

"The bill was given to our richest and therefore most trustworthy citizen"

"So you say Baptiste (sp?) is gone. Did you know that?"

"Mr. Burns, I think we can trust the president of Cuba!"

    Ahh, good times, good times.
