Clearly the TSA is so corrupt that they are all just looking the other way as their coworkers steal everything they can lay their hands on.

Exactly. Just like all employees of Chick-Fil-A are homophobes. Oh wait...

Well, stealing is wrong but this device was left behind on purpose to entrap the guy.  Moreover, it's just one more family that may end up in financial trouble leading to a broken home.  While it's possible that this guy had stolen before, it's also possible that this was his first time.

That is not how entrapment works. Moreover, anyone supporting their family should know better than to risk their job over petty theft. Common sense. If it's his first time, it won't be the last.

Good old liberal hiring practices. Every single time I have been robbed at a hotel, it was by one of the employees. How do I know? a) They have the keys to my room. b) I once got the manager of a hotel to ADMIT her employee had stolen the mobile phone belonging to one of my staff. I gave her 30 minutes to put it back in our room no questions asked, else I would call the police.

We waited 30 minutes outside, and then returned to the room, where the phone had been duly returned.

Everywhere you go world-wide where politically correct hiring practises are in place, you get crime. Everywhere.

About time people are hired on merit. Period.

Exactly. Obviously there are no other socioeconomic factors involved. This is all because of Affirmative Action, designed solely for minority employees to screw hard working whites. Oh wait... that program only covers hiring a defined cross-section of ethnicities; it doesn't tie employers' hands in regards to disciplining employee misconduct, including theft.

But don't let me stop your axe grinding.

It's not entrapment. Not even close.

And whether or not it was his first time, he should have known that stealing it was wrong and has to face the consequences. His kids may suffer, but kids suffer from their parents' bad choices all the time so that's not something that should stop us from punishing criminals.

Some you have to be rooted for them, but if you buy an Android and you don't root it, you might as well get an iPhone

so the average joe android user knows to root his phone? meanwhile, find my phone is free for ios users and is a standard feature. It's up to you to turn it on or off.

I'm disturbed and disappointed you actually feel some sympathy for the guy.

He's someone who has abused his position of trust and responsibility to take advantage of passengers when they're vulnerable; it's not as if you can grab hold of a thieving TSA agent without being smacked down hard onto the floor.

Who knows what else he may do at the airport if the money's right?

"You've got a bag you don't want anybody nosing around in?  Well $10,000 ought to cover our 'fees' for the special 'Don't Look Don't Tell' service my buddies offer at the screening gates".  For an extra $5000 we'll even you escort you onto the plane.

You're concerned for his welfare but neglect the welfare of the victim who may have worked so very hard to buy that iPad.

They may have sentimental photos or other irreplaceable data on that device.

Doesn't matter whether it was his first offence.

Scumbag got what was coming to him.

if for some reason an Android phone is stolen, just check the nearest dumpster. The thief will realize it was a mistake and then will toss the sucker.

Crime happens everywhere in the world, irrespective of the nature of hiring practises.

Can you name a country without a police force or crime?

If you're trying to imply that more crime occurs as a result of politically correct hiring practises, that's a logical fallacy which reveals something about your perception of the world and others in it.

It's sad that a thief lost his job for stealing? Are you F'ing kidding me? And his wife didn't try to cover for him. He blamed her with her absent to weasel his way out of getting caught. He's a b@stard and a moron.

He wasn't stealing bread, he was stealing fancy electronics.

With the way Google likes to collect data about users, maybe these capabilities are already present as undocumented "features"!

TSA and HomeLand security = SS secret police.  Too bad it wont get much press.  Obama probably ordered a media blackout.

This is one of the things that bothers me about the right wing loonies.

TSA was created and given most of its current powers under the Bush administration. And even if Obama wanted to eliminate it, the GOP controls Congress, so there's nothing he can do. Blaming it on Obama is just plain ridiculous.

I warned the mods to patch that screen door, but it's too late; we have Drudge bugs.

Doesn't matter.  If you can't respect laws, other people, and have deficient morals, you're not taking care of your family anyway.
