    About the chicken people,

people make anti/dumb/ugly american jokes all the time, and we rightly laugh, that's what jokes are for. So now we poke a little fun at the french, in advertising, and people get sensitive? come on now.

Relax, guys, it's just democracy (or democrazy?!) What bugs me is that Bush is going to stuff it down every nation's throat.

Yeah, but jokes are meant to be funny.

I fail to see how dumping French Wine or throwing French Fries into the trash is funny.

I also fail to see how Congress renaming French Fries or French Toast is meant as good natured fun. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Hey look it gets better (or worse depending on your perspective).

    <a href="http://www.scrappleface.com/MT/archives/000745.html#000745"; target="_blank">Congressional Chef Renames Chicken-Fried Steak</a>

    [quote]Congressional Chef Renames Chicken-Fried Steak

(2003-03-11) -- Just a day after the head chef of the U.S. Congressional cafeterias changed the name of French Fries to Freedom Fries, he announced France would still have a place on the Congressional menu.

That's because chicken-fried steak has been renamed "French-fried steak."

"We didn't want to completely exclude the French after their great historic contributions to the fields of cuisine and combat," the chef said. "I might add that our customers can still order French Dip Sandwiches.<hr></blockquote>

What a RIDICULOUS waste of time this is.

I want to get a list of representatives that voted for this because they aren't ever getting my vote. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[oyvey]" />

    You're a sweetie.

Sorry, you're the idiot who made the stupid inference about Americans based on a frickin hamburger commercial. Do you appreciate the irony of such an ignorant exercise?

[quote]And no, France is in Europe, not south of the border like you thought.lol.... <hr></blockquote>

You are hilarious. This would be a slightly more effective, though still weak, attempt at an insult if it had been me and not you who had shown himself to be an ignorant ass.

[quote]Just for that, tomorrow I'm sure you'll crank up all your house radios tuned into God Almighty himself.....Rush Limbaugh!!!<hr></blockquote>

He He. High comedy indeed. It would be a bit more compelling if I hadn't already said that I thought the committee's actions were stupid earlier in the thread. Or if I listen to Rush. Or if I happened to be conservative which I am not. But let's pretend otherwise.

[quote]By the way, do you really think the writers knew that little historical tidbit? I think they're just going by what they deem the dumb masses, yourself included, will cheer to these days. <hr></blockquote>

I don't know what they know and neither do you. Surely you are not so absurd as to suggest that no one has ever poked fun at a group: Poles, Blondes, Frenchmen, or anyone else while simultaneously knowing that those jokes were based on false stereotypes right? Well then what makes you think that is not the case here?

[quote]Or is it just you feeling less dumb now that you know there's other ignorant muppets such as yourself out there? <hr></blockquote>

I prefer Gonzo myself. Never really liked Kermit or Miss Piggy. And Beaker, Beaker was cool.

[quote]By the way, do not stay bent over once that executioner leaves your house . Some "Freedom vaseline" might help. <hr></blockquote>

    You're my new favorite poster.

It was a stupid Hardee's commercial which you admit you haven't seen. It perpetuates a false stereotype about the French for the sake of a cheap laugh. It's a ****ing hamburger commercial. Big ****ing deal. I've poked fun at Americans via stereotypes several times on this board myself. If done in jest, it is no big deal. Too bad that you are so dense that you took a Hardee's commercial's 30 second take on the French seriously. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

You wanted to use that to make infer something about American ignorance. It was a stupid thing to do and so in the process you showed your ass to everyone. It's OK, we all say stupid things. Let it go, you've compounded your original mistake with an effort to insult me that is worthy of the 7th grade intellect that both you and Mr. Ney have displayed of late.

Fran I'm going to take a wild guess that the intersection of the set of candidates that you would vote for and the set of candidates that voted for freedom fries is the empty set.

Would anyone like some victory gin with their freedom fries?

I always find strange this name of French fries, potatoes is a better name.

The king of french fries are the belgium people, the congress should rename them Belgium fries. Oh wait, belgium is against war too. We must find an another name.

I suggest to call them coward fries, the only fries who are frightened to be boiled.

So, how is the American Congress planning to erase or rename the 100 Million or so American citizens who do not support a war in Iraq?
