"Find by Content Indexing"

I have a G4 Cube and somehow the "Find by Content Indexing" set to index the hard drive daily at 12:00 Midnight whether the comp is in sleep mode or in use.

Under Sherlock I see where this file is at but I don't see a control window for this. I want to turn it off or set auto indexing only once a week. When the program is open only option I see is "Q" for quit.

Please help...Thanks in advance. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

There are some preferences you can set in Sherlock.

If you want to turn it off completely you can use Extensions Manager control panel.

    Turn off these extensions:

    Find By Content

    FBC Indexing Scheduler

    Hope this helps.

I had a hard time finding the check box to turn that off. I can't remember where I found it now. But I do know it was in the Mac OS help. Search is for "find by content" and "indexing" and stuff like that.

For OS 9 go to the "Find" menu in Sherlock and choose "Index Options..."

You can set the frequency and time for index updates there.
