Custom Icon picture for hard drive

Hi all,

I want to be able to change the icon of my hard drive. I have seen different icon pictures for the "Macintosh HD" and I want to change it from that standard look. I just partitioned my drive into three parts and it would be nice to have different icons for the partitions rather than giving it different color cast. Thanks in advance.

get info on the hard drive, and then control click the picture of the HD that is in the 'get info' menu it should say copy and paste,

now go to just about any other icon on your desktop and do the same thing, this time hit COPY then go over to your HD get info and PASTE the icon ontop of the default HD icon

    Thanks Wrong Robot,

I have a follow up question...If I find a custon image to use as icon for my HD, how can I make my image to be bigger than "any image on my desktop" that I can copy according to your directions. Any image I have on the desktop appear as icon for a file and that icon has specific dimensions that I cannot change/ resize or can I?

    Thanks in advance.

You can cut and paste an image from just about any app (Photoshop, etc) but your icon size will always be limited to 32x32 (or in OS X, up to 128x128, whatever you pick).

AFAIK, there's no way to make your hard drive icon bigger than other icons on the desktop. Not without 3rd party help anyway.
