Night of the living Print Center

Since upgrading to X 10.1.3, The Blue Meanie has encountered a series of annoying Print Center [Edit!] problems. Every so often, for no apparent reason (but usually while working in Microsoft Word X for some reason), the Print Center either starts reporting non-existant "communication problems" with my fully functional, properly connected, inked and papered, and switched-on printer (an Epson Stylus Photo 810), or it quits altogether as soon as it's launched. In the first instance, it is possible to bitch-slap Print Center into action by stopping and starting the print queue and then selecting the print job in question and pressing 'retry', but the problem immediately recurs as soon as you try and print anything else. Deleting the PC preference file solves the problem for a little while, but it inevitably recurs about a week later. In the second instance, nothing less than a full reinstallation of the printer driver will do.

The Blue Meanie is losing more brain cells every time this occurs. Any kind souls got any information, suggestions, etc? <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

The Blue Meanie thinks alcimedes should lighten up. Did you give Sir Mac O'The Isles a hard time for writing his posts in faux-Scots?

His posts are few and far between.... and funny.

Well, I suppose your posts would be funny too.... to a young child.

Well, I doubt if The Blue Meanie is missing anything, alcimedes. Feel free to keep on avoiding my posts.

This was supposed to be a serious request for technical assistance. Anyone with a sense of proportion got any real answers? Cheers

    Meanie,

For what it's worth, I have the same "communication error" problem with my new Epson C80 printer. I susually just flip it on and off a few times and mess with the controls until it works. Sometimes I have to go so far as to reboot my iMac 800. Not really sure what the problem is with Epson printers.

p.s. why are you blue and why are you mean? Do you need to get laid or something?

Gobble gobble - thanks for the input. The Blue Meanie has since read on Macfixit that this problem may be a bug in the X 10.1.3 upgrade itself. Let's hope the toiling minions of I Infinite Loop crack this one soon...

For an explanation of exactly why The Blue Meanie is blue and mean, see here

The Blue Meanie does need to get laid, but that's a seperate issue....

PS - Are you a turkey farmer?
