i am almost 90% confident i will buy an ibook. but just to clear all my doubts about abandoning wintel, can some kind soul pls tell me again the advantages of buying a mac over windows?

If you ever had the urge to do something creative, your make will be your aid. It can make anything movie-like. And soon, you will be able to do more with iPhoto (probably colour correction and other photoshop-esque features)
Get a Mac, you can run Windows on it if you want, and it does it better than a Wintel

When travelling (via first class of course) with the jet-set for free on Steve Job's private jet, you will be served only the finest Martinis/cocaine/caviar/escorts. At the airport, the is a Private lounge you will have access to simply by waving your iBook in front of a laser scanner.
Another perk of joining the leet ranks of Mac Users is a vast wordwide network of intelligensia you will have at your finger tips. For example, let's say IRS audits you, you can not only 'change' your IRS records, you can effectively have the employees who chose you for auditing fired, and even remove your social security number from their databases so you will no longer have to pay taxes.
Another perk is when you play at Lan parties. Just flash your iBook and the room will grow silent. PC users will offer you their seat and perhaps a cold beverage, and you will find that, no matter how poorly you pay Quake 3, you always seem to win every round. If a PC user should accidentally kill you in Quake, he will appologise profusely and will be banned for the evening.
That, plus the scads of hot eurasian women who seem attracted to us 'breakfast in New York, Lunch in Paris" types, and the associated wealth and success (and to some degree, low-key fame), never having to wait in line for the elite night spots and four star restaurants, having designated 'MaxX U5or' parking spots and even, if neccessary, parking in handicapped spots w/ out repercussions (aka "Job's style parking") are the basic Macintosh advantages.

not completely true. windows users can read .sit's. it's just much more of a bitch for a windows user to read a .sit than it is for a mac user to read a .zip.
