Apple's general counsel named to ski resort management firm's board of directors

Vail Resorts on Monday announced Apple Senior Vice President and General Counsel Bruce Sewell on Monday was named to the company's board of directors and will also be serving on the board's audit committee.

As reported by CNBC, Sewell is a lifelong skier who toured the slopes of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming between college and law school. He also worked as a ski patroller at Windham and Hunter Mountains in New York.

According to its webpage, Vail Resorts and its subsidiaries are the leading mountain resort operator in the U.S., with resorts in Colorado, California, Nevada, Wyoming and the Caribbean.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Bruce's caliber and extensive experience join our board," said Rob Katz, chairman and chief executive officer of the Company. "Bruce brings with him an incredible background in managing complex issues in companies growing around the globe with high levels of consumer passion and incredible track records of creativity and innovation."

Sewell is Apple's head legal counsel and deals with all legal matters pertaining to the tech giant. Prior to joining Apple in 2009, Sewell had a long run at Intel where he led all legal, corporate affairs and corporate social responsibility programs worldwide.

Other members of the Vail Resorts board include former President and Chief Executive Officer of MGM Grand Resorts John T. Redmond and President of Lifelock Hilary A. Schneider, among other high-power executives.
