apple dvd superdrive upgrade
i'm just getting into apple's after spending years as a hardware tech on x86's, and my girlfriend is dead keen on getting a new mac, my question is, is it possible to rip out the cd-rom out of a new lcd imac and replace it with a dvd burner superdrive thing from apple, do apple's have a bios you can config?, does OSX automaticly load the drivers or do i need to manually install them, can this be done?

yeah, i know i can just buy one, i just want to know if it can be done

yes, it will void the warranty though and may be a bit of a bitch to do.
for the extra money of going up to the high end imac you'll actually save money considering the increase in ram, processor speed, hd space and the superdrive.
