I think, in the existing Austin offices, they also handle the Apple website development. So, perhaps this expansion will also accommodate more web developers as well.

A nation needs leaders and forward thinkers.  Texas has precious little of either.

If Texas separated, it would be a nation made up almost exclusively of reactionaries, conservatives, and people content to live in the past.  They'd have to resort to drugs, gambling, etc. for their economy to work at all and for anyone to want to actually come and visit.  Also, every wingnut and criminal in the continental US would migrate there in a second after they secede and wouldn't *that* be fun.

It would become a (more) violent hell-hole in short order, if it survived at all.

Texas is well funded and has enough oil to be self-sufficient.

Today, oil meets 36 percent of US energy demand [i], with 70 percent directed to fuels used in transportation – gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. Another 24 percent is used in industry and manufacturing, 5 percent is used in the commercial and residential sectors, and 1 percent is used to generate electricity. [ii]Petroleum is the main mover of our nation’s commerce and its use for transportation has made our world more intimate. It is thetransportation fuel, as almost all of our nation’s transportation is dependent upon its concentrated liquid form.

Today, the EIA estimates U.S. proven oil reserves to be about 21 billion barrels[iii] States leading American oil production are, in order of their volume: Texas, Alaska, North Dakota, California, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana.[iv] However, only Texas produces more oil than produced in the Federal offshore.

In fact, they are in far better financial shape compared to nearly every state, and they are in far better shape than the federal government.
