Know of a good digital camera . . . ?
Anyone have a digital camera that they really like? I'm looking to get something pretty basic that works well with the mac (i.e., transfers pics easily) and is relatively easy to use. Don't need too many bells and whistles. Probably going to spend around $500.
On another note, how many pics can you get with a typical card? Need to factor in the cost of which card I need to buy with the camera.
Thanks all.

It all depends on the formats that your camera can save pictures as.
I have a 5.0 MP OLYMPUS and usually estimate pictures at 12M for high quality, 1M for everyday pictures, and 200K for low resolution (Web quality) pictures.
Your numbers will definitely be different depending on the file format (JPEG,TIFF,etc) and quality selected(Some cameras have a fixed format and some even have quality options for some formats).

I absolutely love mine and have had it for a couple of years. It's a Epson PhotoPC 750Z, and it is still working great. It is a 1.3 mega pixel camera. I now have a 64mb card (for 43 bucks last year) and it gets me 290 pictures on really good quality. It's great! I have a TON of pictures on my website. Check them out, and see if you like the quality. I do! And the camera should be so cheap now. I got it 2 summers ago for 340. Not too bad, eh? go to http://www.acu.edu/~zan99a . That has all my pics. Enjoy!

3.3 megapixel and takes what I'd call great quality photos. Plus if you take a crappy picture ..delete works great on any camera. Not like your wasting film I have friends who have the canon elf or whatever and they love theirs too.
For those that are interested, I looked at them all, looked at the prices, and then did some soul searching (what was I going to use the camera for, anyway?) and decided that my main purpose was for snapping shots on my next trip (pocket-sized and durability became a real priority), I had no interest in extra lenses, etc., and I was never going to be anything more than a point-and-shoot novice, no matter what I told myself now. Factoring in price + a 128mb card, I'm going with the Canon S330 Elph. Fits in my pocket, relatively straightforward, and best of all, with the additional card it's going to run me about $385.
Thanks again all.
