Advice on PowerBook memory

I'm getting a PowerBook 667MHz ( the new ones ) and I want more than 256Mb of RAM in it. I'm switching from having used PCs all the time. I'm not sure how much RAM I should put into it. I plan on using it as a desktop replacement and I use Photoshop ( not a whole lot, but some ). I would like to get 768Mb of RAM by buying a 512Mb module separate from my powerbook, but would it be worth the extra cash to upgrade it to 1Gb of memory? Would it be worth it to get the 1Gb upgrade from Apple or would it be the same if I just got 1Gb worth of Kingston memory?

<a href="http://www.memorysuppliers.com/kin51pc144pi2.html"; target="_blank">This</a> looks like a good deal, seems too good to be true ( according to their claims that the same memory on Apple's site is $400 ). But I see that they are <a href="http://bizrate.com/marketplace/search/search.xpml?de_id=200&cat_id=1&keyword=memorysuppl iers.com" target="_blank">listed</a> on <a href="http://www.bizrate.com"; target="_blank">bizrate</a> and have a good rating. Should I just grab the Kingston since it is a brand name, or would the generic be a better deal?

Ignore that part about the apple claim, I was thinking of a different site that I went to. But is it worth it to save the extra $30 or so and get the generic RAM?

just posted something in a similar thread, but i'll post here as well.

    1. generic ram is OK about 80% of the time, in my experience. it also denpends on who you buy through. shady stores tend to give you crappier ram.

    2. the most reliable place i've bought from is <a href="http://www.mohawkmem.com"; target="_blank">www.mohawkmem.com</a> otherwise try coast 2 coast memory, i've had a lot of orders through them as well.

one note, the more RAM for OSX the better, so load up.
