When I rip a cd onto my HD, is there anyway to retain the cd-text and any other misc. info. that was on the cd, so that when I re-burn it, it's exactly like the original?

i know i can burn an image, but in the meantime, i would also like to play it off my pc........

any suggestions?

Making an image is the only way that I know of. Otherwise you are only ripping wav files and (maybe) converting them to mp3s.

You could make an image and find a way to mount it, but I'm not sure if this works for audio CDs though.

By CD text he means like a label that is put on the CD. Sorta like Audio CD metadata.

i'm trying to back-up my CD onto my pc [and still be able to play the files (aiff/wav)] but if i later had to re-burn the cd, i would like for it to have all the information as was in the original cd.

the audio will be there [wav/aiff] but i was wondering if there was any other information on the cd that i'd be missing if i made it from the computer's backup [cd-text, TOC, etc.]
