Annoying Radeon Problem

I just installed a Radeon card from a G4 Tower into my cube, and now this happens:





I just gets worse by the second. More and more pink lines appear as I move windows, and edit text. BTW, I am running it without a faceplate. I didn't install a fan, could it be overheating? It was fine the first time I booted up, but now it is like the pic. I installed the June and July drivers from Ati.com, but nothing changed(installed before installation of card). Anyone have any ideas?

    Check you connector from your monitor. Might be bent pins. Also maybe your monitor is going bad. Plug the old video card back in to test if it is something other than your radeon.

    I know it is not my monitor(ASD15in btw), since the old card still works fine. Maybe something to hold up the connecter would help, it could be pulling the card down. Thanks.

    ATI sent me a Radeon PCI to review years ago, and when I got it the fan on the GPU wasn't secured. I didn't want to bother with it too much, just used some electrical tape to reattach it...



    At any rate, in Mac OS 9 weird screen drawing problems like that happened a lot with me. Although, usually, I would see it when I pulled down a menu and then let it go away, or dragged a window. The space behind would appear all, well, messed up. I've never had it happen in Mac OS X, always wondered if it was an overheating issue. I never figured it out, but it stopped happening in X, so I don't really worry about it. I'd love to know what causes it though...

    Hmmm, I did buy it off eBay, so maybe it was broken from the start, and the seller didn't tell me. I'll try it in OS9 and see if the problem persists. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    I'd recommend trying to reseat the card in your AGP slot. It could just be that it isn't in there properly; make sure that its firmly in there.



    Other than that, I'm not really sure what else to suggest. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
