How do i NOT leave my mails on server (in mail of os x)

ok i use the mail application of os x.



the only thing that i dont like in it so far is it leaves the mails in server!!!



how do i change that? i dont want to log in web on the server then only to empty trash

    I believe that there is an option in preferences to edit your email account that you can find by selecting the second tab and selecting the option to not save your emails on your email server.

    btw why have they left predefined as "leave the trash on server?"
