Hey you have been here long enough, when they have nothing else to do, the Android trolls just troll Apple forums to spout their crap. If their systems were that great they wouldn't even be here.

One line of reasoning holds that Apple built Samsung into a more formidable competitor by giving them so much business for smartphone components in the first place. My hypothesis is that Apple is gradually trying to cut off Samsung's air supply. First, they stop subsidizing their parts manufacturing, which is already underway. I think the next move, is to try to successfully skim off the more profitable segments of the prepaid market overseas. So, if the iPhone-LC comes to pass, that is how it fits in. They will not need to move the market share needle dramatically to impact Samsung's profits. They just need to join the game and market well.

Now, if the rest of the Android (and Blackberry and WinPhone) can get their act together and compete more effectively, Samsung could fall down the ladder a bit the way Dell did.

One has nothing to do with the other. Simple articles make for a decent number of page hits, and these things never require context to generate buzz.

Samsung makes great products but their betrayal is just wrong. They deserve what they get.

Let's not forget that Apple has been sued many times for patent infringement. They have lost many suits. So Apple isn't a shining example of integrity either.

First this is not software.  It is hardware.  Apple will not commit to any contract with innolux unless they know for a fact that they can build the component needed.

and as the story says they have already been building product for apple for a long time.

This is done with a small production run as a test.  One reason that it has taken so long for TSMC to get a contract for the A series processors from apple is there test production runs did not meet apples standards.  It has taken a year but TSMC is now producing A series processors to apples standards.

Like was said in other posts here this is not even remotely the same as maps not even close.  Hardware contracts are purchased up front and done through thorough  testing.  Before any contract money is committed.

Actually Samsung makes very little of the iPhone 5 components any more and does not design any of them.

iHSiSupply says that recent tear-downs of the iPhone 5 show that the only thing Samsung manufactures but does not design is the A6 and apple is switching that to TSMC completely by spring 2014.  As for the memory DDR2 operating system memory is being made by Elpida in current models for sale, and Sandisk is making the nand flash for the storage.  They were both originally samsung.  The displays are in current models being made by Japan Display Inc.  and LG.

There saying the same for the iPads too.

So I would say that Apple is doing a fine job dumping Shamdung.

Currently the only thing Samsung has a hand in is the A6 and that will change. This year. TSMC is currently in production of A series processors for the new iPhone as well as the 5 and 4S.

These lists are from actual tear downs.

So currently ShamDung only makes one component.  The A6.

Lol, this post made my day.  You really think apple pulling away from a division of Samsung is going to put a dent into Samsung, let alone South Korea?  I think it has more to do with their belligerent neighbor to the north.  South Korea is export driven, can you see a pattern here.... we have all these problems in America financially, and we provide defense to Germany, Japan, and South Korea... who are doing pretty damn well with there export driven economies.  Maybe we should start having these countries provide their own defense, they are obviously more than capable.

I don't understand how this is good news for any of us owning apple products... all my friends who own Samsung screens (whether it be monitors, ipads, iphones, etc) have never complained about any issues... and now apple wants to use this relatively unknown supplier.

Sorry about your fridge. Recently needed a new baby monitor to replace ours that broke. The store closest to me only had one video one in stock, a Samsung. I begrudgingly bought it as it was getting late and needed one that night. The screen brightness faded in and out all night. No way to fix it. Brought it back the next day.

But it got me thinking. My tv (2009) and the monitor on my 2008 mini are both Samsung. Both have this brightness auto adjust issue. So it is a trend I think on their end.

Go over to MacRumors some time and read all the posts from people complaining that displays other than Samsung's are crap.  There sure seems to be this thought that the only good displays in Apple products are ones from Samsung.  Not sure how accurate it is.

How do you tell who made your ipad display?

I am a very curious person and was there when my daughter dropped my iPad 3 and broke the cover glass.  I went down to my local iPad repair shop and had the cover glass replaced, the lcd in it was an LG I asked the person doing the repair.  The guy there repairing them says that it varies some are samsung and some are LG.  My iPad display is gorgeous, and the color and clarity are amazing.  And it is not a Shamdung display.

If you DON'T like Apple, why are you here at all? We "Apple fans" enjoy sites like this because obviously, we like Apple products.

I don't waste Any time at all on android sites bashing their fragmented garbage OS, or on Windows sites bashing their comic book product, Windows 8, the clown CEO gates let loose on Microsoft.

I come here to read about APPLE.

It's an APPLE related site. If you don't enjoy apple products and services, there are plenty of Fandroid sites available to bash apple all day long with like-minded people who will appreciate the Apple hate way more than people who frequent sites like this.

I don't think it's unrealistic to want an Apple site to generally draw Apple fans.

Sadly, the front page stories were "Apple cuts iPadMini display order" - and as usual, their stock tanked. No doubt China's warranty saber rattling and the never ending lawsuits are to blame as well. But, Cook has made it clear that their stock price takes a back seat to customer satisfaction. As an Apple investor and an Apple user, I'm really losing faith in Cook. He needs to be more publicly proactive in addressing these issues.

The problem is the ignorant who don't know the facts, lkrupp. Yes, annoying but remember where said comment came from. Better they be ignored.

I wonder  digitalclips, if others will become reluctant to use Samsung for parts and assembly. One tends to avoid those with sticky fingers. I now avoid all Samsung products even though the laser printer I bought years ago is the best printer I have ever had. I wish I knew from whom FacsimileSam copied the product so I could credit them for a job well done.

Not a single person thinks that. Okay, Apple ][. But he's very fringe.

We're totally fine with airing grievances of experience with Apple products. Also with offering up ideas of new features, changed features, new UI, changed UI, etc. Apple isn't perfect—only a fool would think that—and so part of what the community represents is the voice to change for the better.

What is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE and which creates fully justified backlash is when some moron comes on and whines about how Tim Cook needs to step down. How Apple needs to lower prices if it doesn't want to go bankrupt. How the iPhone must become cheaper/larger/worse, otherwise they'll ("continue" to) lose marketshare. How Maps "failed" and "continues" to fail. All that crap. You know the examples.

More than the blatantly overt stuff, that is the type of anti-Apple trolling we receive here. It's always hidden as a "legitimate complaint", but uses utter FUD or just blatant lies as the foundation on which the argument is built. It assumes these lies as unwavering truth and then builds its "complaint" about Apple on top of them.

So no, that's a legitimate complaint.

Hey, the Apple Gods will not punish you since Apple is yet to make a fridge. I have a Samsung fridge and 3D TV, but no problems so far. Now, when Apple comes out with a fridge and I don't buy it, then I expect all hell to break loose!
