Kevin Lynch, a former Adobe executive who caused a stir when he recently joined Apple, is now in charge of a team comprised of employees who used to work in the company's iPod division, a new rumor claims.

Lynch is said to be in charge of a new team at Apple with many engineers who previously worked on the company's iPod lineup, according to sources who spoke with MacGeneration. Among the names on the new team are said to be Robert Curtis, who worked on iPod firmware for several years, along with Steve Bollinger, who is credited with numerous iPod and multitouch patents.

It's unknown exactly what Lynch's new mystery team is working on, but the site speculated on Friday that the new division could be working on Apple's rumored smart watch accessory. One report from February claimed Apple already had a 100-person team working on an unannounced watch, including personnel who had previously worked on the iPhone and iPad.

It was revealed last month that Lynch had taken a position at Apple ? an announcement that drew the ire of a number of Apple supporters because of Lynch's connections with Adobe Flash and disparaging public comments made about Apple's refusal to support the platform on its iOS devices.

In his position at Apple, Lynch reports to Bob Mansfield, who leads the new "Technologies" group created by the company last fall. That new division is a combination of Apple's wireless teams and its semiconductor development efforts.

The hiring of Lynch came after a number of high-profile changes in Apple's personnel, most notably the ouster of Scott Forstall, previously the company's head of iOS development.

So Business Week says Bob Mansfield is leading a team for the "iWatch", the Verge says it's Jony Ive and now the rumor is it's Kevin Lynch.

Either you mysteriously forgot the sarc tag, are plain stupid, or try to make a joke. I presume it's the latter.

Here's the thing that fanbois of all kinds (tech, sports, whatever) fail to realize.  These guys all know each other.  If you do good technical work you get respect.  Sometimes that turns into a job with a rival company/team/whatever.

If there are animosities that's just personal history and personality differences rather than because you worked/played at some other company/team and trash talked.  Or even committed fouls on you.  Lots of folks trash talk on the court and foul you but can leave it there for what it is.  Competitors playing to win.

Only fanbois give a shit...and they ain't got no game or they wouldn't be on the sidelines looking on.

Kevin Reports to Bob.   Bob's group makes technology into scalable product.   Jony tells them how to make it look and interact

so in fact, it's likely all three.   Bob's payroll to manage, Kevin as the day to day and deliver to manufacturing a scalable product., and jony saying 'this shade of silver, this depth of button pressing, this finish on the diamond polished buckles....

An interesting scenario. But Lynch is a software guy. No established company with a wide array of engineering talent would ask a software guy to bring a hardware product to manufacturing. Lynch is likely working on the software side.

This technique of starting with a false or presumed characterization of a group as the premise to build a whole dismissive discourse is tired, transparent and ineffective. Once the intent is clear (which is right after the first sentence), the remaining words are just a joke.
