Haha, defiant. What sort of information are you looking for? He plugs it in and it doesn't work.

Have you tried reseting the power manager? There's a button in the back between the modem and s-video out that you can depress that will do it. <a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449"; target="_blank">http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449</a>; .

If that doesn't work, call Apple.

    defiant... thanks for the help....

granted you ahve seen 3 messages from me in the last week or so asking for help... but that does not mean that is all I am looking for here.... first of all, yes I do know how to go and troubleshoot myself... but being new to OS X which i had just gotten and new to a laptop in general... It is not out of the question that I am experienceing trouble like this...

Now, about the problem at hand... it seems as if the powersupply got fried or something.... I called up apple and they did a bunch of tests.... and I'm probably going to have to send it in... Now that might not mean much to you Defiant.. but since I just got up to school, IT IS GOING TO REALLY SUCK being w/o the computer I was planning on taking all my notes with. Even if its only for the first few weeks (who knows esp with the kinds of horror-stories I hear from Fran(cis) ).

and any and all help i recive here I try and repay it by helping someone else who may be having trouble with a problem I previously experienced..... so dont give me any crap...

oh and not only does it not charge when on... it doesn't charge when it is off either....

I better get this computer back from apple without a scratch on it and w/o a reformatted HD..... fucking rediculous...

Edit: after re-reading your message... I realize i am way off base.. sorry, im just pissed that i cant use my comptuer.... <img src="graemlins/embarrassed.gif" border="0" alt="[Embarrassed]" />

    Paul,

If it's any consolation, I had to go without my Tibook too. And I use it for everything, from note taking to session note writing, to DVD watching to radio and cds. It was tough. But Apple got my computer back to me in 2 days flat. My problem was fixed and they even replaced the outer casing that was chipping. So maybe it won't be as bad as you think it will.

    I wanna quote alcimedes:

[quote] i think what he's saying is that we need a few more details before we 'd be able to help you out.

if you can, write out everything you've tried, and the results you've gotten. it's tough to troubleshoot computer problems over the 'net, in-depth information is about the only way to combat this.<hr></blockquote>

Yeah, I figured out what you were saying AFTER i wrote a reply... <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> hence the edit...

as for me giving you more information..... if i ever plug the powerbook in... it shuts off... no matter what... whats more, in order to turn it back on i need to unplug the battery..... and then plug it back in....

anything else you would like to know? there isnt much that any of you can do about it..... thanx anyways... i just wanted to vent a little....

on a completely unrelated note... I rememebr someone mentioning something about someone at apple saying to the "no worries, at all" im 90% sure that it was here at AI....

well the guy that handled my call said the exact same thing... weird... the guy's name is Tim.... hmmm i'm going to go do a search on that now....

Very funny defiant. The genius bar needs a handy FAQ.

No post should be without Hardware/OS details.

not exactly... but i can tell that something major was fixed... before it "broke" if i left it on overnight, when i woke up it would be extremely hot with the fan on... now it is very cool if left idle...
