Auction winner pays $610K for cuppa with Apple CEO Tim Cook
A charity auction for an hour's worth of coffee talk with Tim Cook closed on Tuesday, as the winning bid reached a lofty $610,000 for the one-on-one time with the Apple executive.
The auction winner's final bid, as listed on CharityBuzz, crushed the estimated $50,000 value for the meeting. It is unknown who put in the winning bid, though that information is likely to be released at a future date.
Cook's auction began at the end of April, with starting bids of around $5,000 quickly skyrocketing to over $560,000 in only two days. Today's finalized bid set record for CharityBuzz's largest auction ever, which previously stood at $250,000 for a day with former president Bill Clinton.
The $610,000 price of entry gets the auction winner 30 minutes to an hour of face time with Cook, with the meet to take place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino. Travel and lodging expenses were not included as part of the deal.
Proceeds for the auction will go toward The RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights.

People are completely missing the point of the massive bid amounts.
The point is that this is what exposure to Tim Cook is worth to people, on a self-marketing level. Would anyone, for example, pay anywhere near that to meet the CEO of any other massive company? I doubt it.
And everyone needs to read about this 15 times a week for what?
Absolutely! For instance, imagine how much a Steve Jobs chat would be worth today considering it would also involve time travel. I'd think the time travel alone is worth billions.

Because it's about Apple, it's on the internet, it's funny, and we have nothing better to do since our Apple gear actually works and we aren't wasting time rooting our OS, dealing with malware problems and going back and forth to the dealer to get our smartphones replaced because the thing died.

Those are really good but I've always been partial to Cuppa Feel.
Cuppa is actually a brit term for a cup of tea. Cup o' Joe would've been more US appropriate.

I predict that they won't actually pay. The winner's name was a********s which is the right number of letters for "applesucks" and I'm sorry but even someone who could easily afford it just wouldn't pay so much for that prize. No one would.
