If they do go to a dual flash, they would mount it horizontally, not vertically.
Ideally the flash would be spaced as far away from the lens as is possible to reduce red eye. A flash on a pull out stalk would be even better but that isn't Apples style.
Also, am I the only one pissed off that we won't get any new mobile gear until the end of the year?
Most likely you are the only one pissed off!

Look at this way you re getting pissed off over rumors that have no basis in fact. This is especially interesting because you should realize that WWDC is only a couple of weeks away. When WWDC happens we will have a better grasp on release dates for all sorts of hardware.

In any event where does this end of the year crap come from? Rumors! Just how often are those rumors proven to be right.?
This seems like a ridiculously long time to make us wait given the accelerated cycles of the market lately.
Cry me a river! My iPhone 4 still works fine and frankly so do the 4S and iPhone 5.
There are already ultrabooks out with better specs in some cases than the MacBook Air they copy, are we going to suffer the same thing with tablets and phones as well? Apple needs to step up production IMO.

Give me a break. Every indication is that we get new AIRs at or just before WWDC. I'm expecting a lot of other new hardware too. As for phones, what is wrong with Apple current line up? They are still high performance machines with excellent battery life and other unique features that hold their own very well in the marketplace.

    Absolutely fugly colors. Ugh.

They don't look that bad to me. Then again I wouldn't get worked up over somebodies rendering on a rumors sight. The reality is most people cover up the color anyways with a ten cent case so getting worked up over it is kinda foolish.

I'd love a jet black MBP.
    ...
And those iPhone colors look terrible.

No one cares about colors, give us a 4.7 inch screen, a pixel density of 496 and support 1080p HD... *cough* (HTC One). I mean seriously, this is probably the biggest selling point of high end android phones and Apple could easily take this away. Another 4 inch screen? Really? Why? It doesn't matter if the hardware is faster and better and running iOS7 if we're still stuck with a tiny 4 inch screen that may not even support 720p!

Dodgy photoshop from Macotakara. Clearly just added a color multiple layer or something transparent effect over a white model - Hue & Saturation all wrong. The Ipod color vibrance is more like it. A few months ago - a dodgy hedge fund on CNBC laughed off the potential "lollipop innovation" colored iPhones... Prick.

"Queen's English" spelling, more accurately, I think.

The 'high gloss' reflection as well… doesn't feel very Apple-esque at all, does it. 3rd party concept renderings… psh.

So glad they aren't on the design team at Apple!

My old 3GS has a 'plastic shell', and still looks great. Surely Apple, if they really are planning a 'cheap phone', would make it at least that nice looking.

You think Apple sent different colour combinations to different people to smoke out a mole?

Apple have been so hit and miss with their colour selections. The fatboy nanos really paled in comparison to the vibrant, "nano-chromatic" lineup.

I hope they go for rich colours. Deep purple, burnt orange and ultramarine (darker blue than they've used before) look stunning in anodised form. Forest green is also much nicer than yellowish grass-green.

You only have to wait a few more weeks to find out. You should be used to their yearly updates by now. Their strategy seems to work.

Whichever of the two variations you use, it's patently obvious that "Colours" came first and that "colors" is the later variant.
Therefore whichever one you personally happen to use or like, your caret is facing the wrong direction.

It may be patently obvious to you, but you're wrong:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_spelling_differences
Most words ending in an unstressed -our in British English (e.g. colour, flavour, harbour, honour, humour, labour, neighbour, rumour) end in -or in American English (color, flavor, harbor, honor, humor, labor, neighbor, rumor). Wherever the vowel is unreduced in pronunciation, e.g. contour, velour, paramour and troubadour the spelling is the same everywhere.
Most words of this kind come from Latin non-agent nouns having nominative -or. These words were first borrowed into English from early Old French and the ending was spelled -or or -ur.[5] After the Norman conquest of England, the ending became -our in Anglo-French to try to represent the Old French pronunciation,[6] though color has sometimes been used in English since the 15th century.[7]'

So 'or' was first and 'our' came later.

Why? The separation distance is small enough that I can't imagine that the orientation would make a lot of difference. The decision would probably be based on internal layout and ease of assembly.

Both Apple's next-generation flagship iPhone and the company's anticipated low-cost iPhone will come in an array of colors well beyond the current black and white options, a new rumor claims..

    Good Lord. Not again.

We'll have 500 different rumors between now and the time the next iPhone comes out. And if Apple only fulfills 499 of them, the analysts will express disappointment and the stock will plummet.

I really wish someone would track the accuracy of these analyst rumors and publish the results. If an Analyst has a low score, no one should ever quote them until they improve their score. Or maybe they should have to give up 10% of their salary every time they publish an incorrect rumor. (or rumour if it makes you happy).

I don't understand the philosophy of going plastic for a cheaper iphone. Seems to me like the case would be one of the least expensive parts of the device. But maybe if true it's more of a psychological thing, people associate plastic as not being as high end as metal. I wouldn't put it past Apple to make a plastic iPhone again. Just curious.

Plastic cases can be stamped out by the millions for pennies. While it's possible to stamp out metal cases, as well, Apple's cases are machined from Al blocks. That's a far more expensive process.

However, while the percentage difference is huge, the metal case probably only adds a dollar or two to the cost (compared to pennies for the plastic), so that alone wouldn't make a huge difference. There may be differences in assembly cost that might increase it some, but again, it's not likely to be more than a couple of dollars difference.

I posted about this on the 17th...

Dude Appleinsider thanks for making a post of what I said... but the mockup of the colorful iphones is incorrect. They look glossy and cheap... Apple uses Anodized Aluminum so the iPhones most likely will look like the picture below. if they decide to not change the design again as usual... but I would say that they would just a bit because Aluminum is prone to scuffs and the sapphire crystal for the rear camera causes a purple haze.

Just to let everyone know the Moscone Center West in San Fran will be getting WWDC Banners ready from June 6-9th. I researched the Website and they have June 6-14 Clear for Apple's WWDC. Be ready for a new iOS 7 and Mac OS X Presentation.

    New Apple Products!

And here is a supposedly leak of what is a new iPhone design, but who knows if it's real or not.

    CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 75

Here it is rendered in a light blue shade..

And then here's another "leak" from GSMARENA of what is the next iPhone 6... I call fake because the home button has already been leaked... but there is a patent on one iPhone that looks like this. There's also no volume buttons or silencer so it's unlikely.

Apple might introduce 3 not 2 new iPhone's later this year. A low-cost re-engineered 5c with the non-metallic case (ceramic or plastic) in multiple colours, a 5s with upgraded internals and maybe more colours also, and a 5x with a similar spec to the 5s just with a 5 inch display and 'x' designated SoC (like the iPad 4) to handle the extra resolution.
