Glad to see that AI is keeping to that NDA they agreed to when they downloaded the beta.
We've already seen a lot of whining in the press about the new UI. Doing big features on an unfinished product aren't going to help matters.
Are you serious? There's probably hundreds of thousands of people on the new beta. Everything is out there. I installed it on my touch without even a developer account. Expecting anyone to abide by an "NDA" at this point is ridiculous. There's like thousands of youtube videos already dissecting every part of the OS. Every tech blog has articles about it with screenshots. This stuff is public. What AI shows is utterly irrelevant.

I thought that this was supposed to be a Pro-Apple site? Having a bit of respect for the company that you're a fan of seems logical to me. I wonder how much this negative press is affecting Apple's stock price?
Who would use Siri to control volume? Half the buttons and all of the switches on an iPfone are dedicated to volume. That's 3/5 of the hardware inputs. Siri probably doesn't understand "go to my home screen" either.
The biggest improvement I've noticed is how much faster it is. I mean, it's FAST. Very comparable to Google now speeds. The thing never spins for more than a second, and usually much less. Definitely a massively improved experience all-around, and I can't wait for the new voice as te current one has always grated me.
The interface is also gorgeous.
Could the speed be due being on beta servers? In other words, when released this fall (we hope)and 300 million users start using it, do you think the speed will remain... speedy?
Correct me if I am wrong please, but for ALL Siri commands internet connection is required? For 'most' Google Voice command requests internet is NOT required? IMO- anyways... I wish Siri did some very basic local commands with out the internet. Or does it?
Has anyone confirmed Voice Control's death?
Surely these basic settings changes should not require a connection if they could build similar commands in.
I have been using iOS 7 on my 5th gen iPod touch, i didn't want it on my iPhone 5 until it's actually released.
After reading all the new little things that have been added, i gotta try them out, I've noticed that the old siri voice is still there.
i restored my touch from icloud, it was so unstable i had to wipe it & start again, its working alot better now, i guess they have alot more things to fix.

Which iPhone version do you have? Siri on iOS 7 beta is slow for me on iPhone 4S using 802.11n Wi-Fi (6.11 Mbps down and 1.37 Mbps up). I would even suggest that Siri on iOS 7 beta is seemingly slower than iOS 6.1.3 for me.
Great. Now I want to be able to do things with Siri that would be difficult to do any other way such as: "Turn on WiFi when I am at home". There are many tasks that would require a complicated UI but could be done with simple spoken commands. "Dim the screen at night when I am driving." "Be silent when I am in a movie theater." You get the idea.
Can't find the article right now but you are correct. Google Search/Now doesn't require interaction with a server, Siri calls home. Thus the delay sometimes. Sure wish I could find the article, it explains better than I'm able.
Google Now does require a connection, the apparent speed difference is that Now sends back a translation directly and updates it as you speak, but Siri waits till you have finished, a bit like the suggestions list displayed as you type instead of waiting to show results till you press return.
I think IBM did a big study on the percieved speed of user interfaces. anything which does not react < 1 second is percieved as slow. I have a program which takes a few seconds to do a processing task. I have timed it with no feedback and with a progress bar. the drawing and update of the progress bar almost doubles the processing time but a huge percentage (>90) of users say that it is quicker with the progress bar.

Location, Time and Context aware Tasks - brilliant, and why not? It can be done with Reminders, after all.
I have no doubt that intelligent advances in Siri / Control Centre combination functions will arrive soon, especially when these API's are opened up to enterprising 3rd party developers that specialise in Task Management apps.

What is this, a joke?
You can also turn off 3G. Which is major!

No. Siri on iOS 7 beta does open Safari as expected.

Weird... so what do you do, point your flashlight at your closed eyelids and get a glow? Whatever...
However, I already use Siri to operate my iPhone 5 / iOS6 flashlight by saying just one word: "Light!"
Light is the name of my favourite flashlight app, and Siri already knows to activate apps by name in iOS 6.
