Hard drive not mounting in OS 9 boot cd

For some strange reason when I boot up into OS 9 from a bootdisk or iPod, I cannot see my harddrive. I can boot into X and 9 fine with the harddrive though. Disk utility cannot find the drive either.



This is on a MDD DP1250. I need to defrag my harddrive, performance has halved and is annoying me. Any ideas?

    I know that if you boot off of the Norton SystemWorks 7 CD, you can't see the internal hard drive. That CD has OS 9 on it. That issue is also unique to 10.2 only; that is if you had 10.1 installed and booted off of the Norton CD, you could see the drive.

    That's really strange. My roommate managed to do this successfully on his DP1250 by booting off another hard drive; not sure if CD works for him.
