To bad the real appleinsiders are tied and bound in "Steve's basement of pain".

I sincerely doubt we are going to see anything this week. The only other chance is next weeks with some special event and something tied to the SuperBowl, but even that is a stretch, and only if the G5 hits the ground running.

It was probably all a ploy to ferret out the loose lips and sink 'em before the real announcements.

Blah I wish a new PM would hit the market! I need to get a new machine. I don't really like the Idea of having another iMac. I need something with hellah ballz and expansion.

Don't get me wrong my 867 at work is the bomb but anything faster than that would sure be nice...

Superbowl. Halftime. A commercial with a rock prelude that slowly builds up on a black screen with a white hot star in the center. As the music builds up, the star becomes more pulsing and violent. At the end, the star explodes and expands into a huge Apple logo which implodes and explodes again to show the alpha numeric designation we know as 'G5'. Abruptly cut the music and image. "This spring begins the revolution."

apple would be more likely to advertise the new imac and superbowl is a big audience and it would help a lot.

Well, the last Superowl ad was the introduction of the original Macintosh...Remains to be seen whether the speed and 64bit archtitecture qualify for such a major ad.

Today's lack of anything greatly strengthens the G5 case in my opinion. If we make it past the Jan 31st promotion expiration with nothing then I would say G5's at Seybold.

I absolutly think the superbowl is a great place to advertise the G5. Just think, millions of men with elevated levels of testosterone and alcohol watching somebody describe the world's most powerful personal computer running the world's best UNIX OS.

Think i would have to disagree with you there. These guys aren't computer dorks looking for the most power computer (the kinda power they're looking for is measured in horsepower and such). The only products i can imagine apple pushing during the superbowl would be either

    a) the iBook

    b) the iPod

    c) the new iMac

Why? All consumer products priced more accuratly at the majority of people that will be watching the superbowl than the pro machines that apple offers. In my opinion, these drunken testosteron filled men are worried more about the price/performance of a machine (apple's consumer products) than the no-comprimise all out speed and prices of apple's pro line. Of course i could be wrong.

    PPC8500,

My last post wasn't meant to be taken 100% seriously.

Well, its about 1:10PM here in Calif. and I just checked the Apple store. Still no new pm's.

Maybe this is a good sign. I would rather wait a little and have more of a chance to get a G5 than to absolutly get a bumped G4.

there was a commercial the year after on the 1985 superbowl called "lemmings." then about three or four years ago they ran the "hal" spot on the superbowl as well.
