Powerbook G3 LCD Replacemnt

Or, "Holy crap, I did it myself!"

I recently replaced the LCD panel in my Powerbook G3 Pismo myself and documented the process. I thought you all might like to see it, so I've posted the procedure on my website. I am not a technician, just a longtime mac user with good handskills and a little time on my hands. I got the LCD off of eBay for less than $200, and it worked perfectly. The procedure took less than an hour and was actually much easier than I had expected.

You can do it to!

the best part about documenting a repair as you do it is that you can then go back and figure out what went wrong, and why you have that one extra screw.

HA! That is true, fortuneately, everything did fit back as expected and no parts were leftover. However, there is one funny side effect to using a third-party LCD?

It seems there's an extra structural support in the new panel, that just happens to run right in the middle of the transparent glowing Apple.

HA HA HA, oh well, small price to pay, I still saved like $400.

anywho, do-it-yourselfer beware. Would you believe I didn't notice this for almost a week after I did the repair, and then it was my b/f who pointed it out to me.

    ciao,
