How come you can't quit it? Tried doing a kill in Terminal?

First stop has to be trying to repair permissions.

Repair permissions: disk utility in the utilities folder

kill: open the terminal and run "top" (type: [code] top </pre><hr></blockquote>) look for the name of the process you are trying to "kill" and remember the PID (left hand column) then press "q" to terminate "top" (type: [code] q </pre><hr></blockquote>) then run the kill command with the PID you remembered from before (type: [code] kill (PID) </pre><hr></blockquote>) if that doesnt work try [code] sudo kill (PID) </pre><hr></blockquote> then enter your admin password

also there is an application called escapePod (i think) from Ambrosia that may help

you may also want to run "fsck" from single user mode this fixes the file system (file system check)

if you want instructions on how to do that just ask

    hth

oh, and why are you using IE? there are many other alternatives that are much better but that can wait for a software thread

also what version of OS X are you running? Ram? did you just install ram?

Quicksilver 2002 1.5 gig of ram installed by apple. 10.2.4

everything just freezes. i think the cursor disappears

    will fsck help?

i might be having email problems too. i may have to just reinstall 10.2.4. or is there a way i can just reinstall mail.app. can't i use Pacifist to extract it from the OS X discs?

Paul, the MX500 is a corded mouse. You're thinking of the MX700. The two are basically the same except for the wired 500 vs. the wireless 700.

I have no idea what the problem could be, although I doubt it's the mouse. Could be, though.

    oh wait.

I also had a cordless from logitech once. a optical one. She froze every day about two times. but it was only the mice. If I plugged in a other mouse, it worked fine again.

AFAIK, there is no 'solution' with this. The only thing you can do, is to unplug the receiver for about 10-20 sec. then plug it back in, and it should work fine again.

sorry I didn't saw this earlier. I read through the thread, but... I don't know.

I have an MX 500 and have no problems with it.

Are you using the "Logitech Control Center" software with it (available <a href="http://www.logitech.com"; target="_blank">here</a>)?

If so, try deleting it - if not, try installing it.

I see from the release notes that it is compatible with OS 10.1.2 - 10.2.1.

    Maybe this is the problem as you're using 10.2.4, though I doubt it <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

there is an uninstaller included with the app.

    get it here:

    <a href="http://www.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/mouse/mac/lccinstalldisk104.dmg"; target="_blank">http://www.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/mouse/mac/lccinstalldisk104.dmg</a>;

deinstall it, restart, and install it again- the version I had problems with was 1.0.3
