The chart says if you've invested in AAPL and MSFT way back in 1986/87.  AAPL would have a 16012% return and MSFT would have a 31993% return, almost double of AAPL.  It'll be interesting how this chart would show in anther 10 yrs.

If you look at 1 year growth and YTD

    Apple vs Microsoft

    -21.10% vs 5.07% 1 year

    -6.46% vs 18.8% YTD

"Baller would have had ..." (2nd to last paragraph)
Is "Baller" an editorial comment or a typo?

I think sometimes Steve doesn't get enough credit for his business acumen.

If he hadn't been wise and practical enough to make that deal with Microsoft, It's possible that Apple wouldn't have survived.  It was an unpopular decision, and it even got him booe'd by the Apple faithful at its announcement, but it was a very smart move in hindsight.

That took a lot of balls, and is one more example of his greatness as a CEO.

It's AAPL, not APPL (that's petrol). Other than that, good article.

I sure hope they keep Ballmer on as CEO; I don't watch TV so am missing out on comedy.

That and calling him Baller LOL.

You'd better explain 'petrol' to the Yanks ;)

I read "Appell Petroleum Corp Stock" over here:
    http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/APPL

Do the Yanks use the same abbreviation?

Ballmer was a nice touch, wasn't it?

Good god- why is this guy still there? One disaster after the next.
You almost feel sorry that they keep letting him continue to constantly f#@k up!

I for one is glad he is there! Yeah! If M$ are stupid enough to put him in that position that is their problem.

    Oh c'mon: wrong time frame.

It's only from 2000 on that really matters
