Cleaning the iPod nav wheel!

    Wouldn't the pieces that fall of the eraser as you erase clog up parts of the ipod?

    I don't have an ipod, so i don't really know how much space there is between the wheel and machine, but i can only assume that the last thing you need is eraser bits clogging up the wheel.

    Nevermind that, how about cleaning the screen? It's almost freakin impossible without scratching the thing.



    And I thought the iBook was scratch prone...

    When mine gets dirty, I set the "hold" button and wipe the wheel down with an alcohol swab or towellette. Works for me.

    I recently bought some iKlear which apple support recommends for lots of products (ibook, G4, ACD screens etc). I have to htink that it would be perfect. Same company as <a href="http://www.KlearScreen.com"; target="_blank">www.KlearScreen.com</a> . Hell, I even use it on my lcd camera and my HT projector.

    The only problem I had on mine was the area around the wheel, where I simply would take a piece of paper, or the edge of a notecard, and spin the wheel a few times. It worked beautifully.

    The best way to clean the iPod's wheel is to take it off and do it.



    The wheel pops off just like key caps. I use a really thin knife to slip it under the groove, and tease it off. It will go back on without any problems.
