iPod headphones

what do u guys think/use? what are the best uv found and most convenient to have and carry around? i find the pair that came w/ it to be acceptable, and i use em simply cause they are easy to wear around campus, and not obvious during class. i realize they dont have the greatest sound, but what has anyone else found as a better option? and w/ a reasonable price of course...

As posted elsewhere I am using the sony MDR-EX70 (white) in your ear plug style at the moment..... but I am keen to find out more about the benefit of the Etymotics ER-6 and ER-4P. A good place to start....- <a href="http://www.headphone.com/"; target="_blank">http://www.headphone.com/</a>;

It also depends if you like the ear plug style or not..... not everybody does (eg my wife does not like th over the head type style)..... there are many variables besides sound.

I love my Bang and Olufsen Earphones. They are very comfortable and adjustable, and have a good quality sound. B&O don't usually have great amounts of Bass, and they are a bit open to traffic noise, but they look cool, sound great and are built to last (trust me, despite the thin cords and plugs, they have been through a LOT!) - Visit <a href="http://www.bang-olufsen.com"; target="_blank">http://www.bang-olufsen.com</a>; and go to the accessories part of the products.

Depending on whether I'm in a loud environment or not, I use sealed or open headphones.

sealed: Sony MDR-7506

Open: Sennheiser HD 580

Those little earbud things are OK for walking around, but I don't do much of that.

Adam, how do you like the ex70s? Those are the ones I'm thinking about getting. I tried my friends yester day and they sound and feel awesome. Unfortunately, the white ones are imports from Japan (or so he says) and cost $60 versus $36 or so for the black US version.

I like them a lot... you can crank them up, but it seems that there is not as much actual sound being blasted into your ears. This is why in the ear plugs are great i think..... but as I am living here in Tokyo I cant really comment on the import thing (japan is home for now).

Whereabouts in Japan are you. I visited Japan 2 summers ago. I was in Fukuoka for about a week and worked my way up to Kyoto and eventually Tokyo during the folowing week and a half. It was amazing. Rhopongi was wild. Anyhow, beautiful country.

I walk around with my Grado SR-60s. The iPod does not sufficiently power Sennheiser HD580s.

i also have the B&O earphones and really recommend them. They are more stable/secure than in the ear style, they don't mess up your hair like the overhead ones and the sony streetstyle 'round-the-back' ones hurt my ears after a couple of hours.

Most important, they look very cool.

two thumbs up from me.

I live in the middle of Tokyo..... still only about 5-7 kms from Akihabara (electric town where your gadget dreams come true). The traffic gets me down though...... i do love the subway though.

I would be interested to know a bit more about the fit of the headphones you have.

Earbuds ALWAYS fall out of my ears (I don't know why, but they never fit).

Are these ones any better? I assume they are as they go deeper into the ear canal, but I would like to hear it first hand!

Earbuds don't fit me either...You need the back facing flap on the inside of your ear...I don't really have one.

Earbuds (ugh, I hate that name <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> ) rule. I have the <a href="http://www.aiwa.com/Catalog99/models/HP-V163.asp"; target="_blank">Aiwa HP-V163</a> and they're the best sounding headphones I've ever had. I've tried the largest, most expensive headphones at different places and they still sound tinny compared to mine. Maybe it's just me.

Barnes & Noble has them in their music area (at least at the three stores I've been to in Southern California) for $12.99.

I'll voice some support for the black MDR-EX70s. They sound great, and help when it comes to cutting down traffic noise, due to the in-the-ear closed style.

Love 'em. Get the from <a href="http://www.minidisco.com/miniorderhead.html"; target="_blank">Minidisco</a>. They seem kinda expensive from Minidisco, but they do sell the white ones there too.
