Quality of Photo CD

Hi,

I'm still thinking about how best (and cheapest) to get photos on to my mac quickly. So, my newest idea is the Photo CD. Does anyone know what quality they are? - can you ask for higher quality?

Thanks,

David

By this you mean the Kodak Photo CD you can opt for when you have your film processed? I haven't used one in a few years. Back then I got about a half a dozen of them. The quality was excellent. I tried sending two rolls of film taken of the same (industrial) subjects. One went to Kodak and the other to a local film processor. The scanned images from the local processor were awful. They looked posterized. There were no gradations in the colors at all. Tubing that should have been translucent was simply white. The Kodak CDs, by comparison, were excellent. The same tubing was translucent revealing objects behind it. Each image is available at a range of resolutions up to about 3000 x 2000 (by memory).

Try one out, they are not expensive.
