Nope, it was discontinued last February/March. I was lucky enough to purchase a refurbished model at the time for $580 or so. Love that camera--only 2.6 MP, but with a 10x optical zoom and optical stabilization.
Once the SLR-style D60s, etc. started dropping in price, I think Canon just ceded that segment till the the body drops till $1000 or so--then Canon can sell 'em the lenses, too. I'll buy.
I got to check out the PowerShot G3. It seems really nice. It feels much better in your hand than the G2, and the manual focus, though still horrible, seems to be improved.
It also looks much better than the G2. I liked the G1. It had kind of a retro feel about it. The G2 just looks like a bigass APS camera. The G3 looks a little retro again.
I like my cameras to look good.
Especially if I'm paying $800 for them.
If I remember correctly, the G3 goes on sale October 10.
I would agree with Timo that if you want objective information you really should check out dpreview.
That said I will proceed to give you my subjective impressions. I recently got married and I asked everyone who brought a digital camera to give me any pictures they took. I don't think there were any of the cameras you specifically are looking at, but there were a couple Nikons (a 990 and a 995), and a couple Elphs (an S100, I forget what the other one was). The Nikons definitely had better color fidelity (and in general better image quality), if that is what is of interest to you. Lets face it, what makes the Elph great is its size; unless you weight that pretty highly it isn't that good a camera.
My Canon G2 arrived. I charged the battery, installed the CF card then walked outside. I turned it on to auto and got incredible pictures here in Florida of the greenery and tropical stuff. Loading into iPhoto was automatic. Didn't have to install any drivers. In response to Belle, I like the camera because it looks retro. Has a solid feel like an old rangefinder I had many, many years ago.
The G3 is also nice, has a few more features and costs $200 more. As in everything tech, products change and are improved every year. Canon will keep the G2 (unlike the G1 which the discontinued).

My only complaint is the USB is sooo slow. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> But, I was also shocked by the support Canon has for their cameras. PhotoStitch can merge two or more photos together. <a href="http://www.ssba.com/lad/vacationweb/CAT/catisland.mov"; target="_blank">EXAMPLE</a> Remote capture can trigger a snapshot by pressing a button on your computer. And ImageBrowser is a good photo indexing application. (Much like iPhoto)
So, my advice: Get a Canon camera. They are fun to use, and supported by great software.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Hey, I picked one up too. It arrived at the end of August. And yes, the D60 is awesome. The typical shutter lag for digital cameras is practically non-existant. Still getting some accessories for it, but I at least have some extra batteries, a decent case, 2 Lexar 512 MB CF cards, and two lenses (28-135, and the 100-400). Saving up for the 16-35 lens and a speedlight.
Prior to the D60, I had a Nikon 990. The portability and the pictures were great. My Mom liked it so much, I gave it to her (heh, I needed the excuse to get the D60 anyways).

I like it. Are we allowed to like landscapes now? I think that's still poo-poo in the critical world. It's not Ansel Adams, but then what is? A little photoshopping might bring out a hint more depth, maybe some gradients to simulate a very slight vignetting (like through an old pin-hole camera)
The only thing I don't like about Steves-Digicams.com = his sample photos. I can only stand *so many* pics of Werther's Originals in a bowl, an M&M holding a football and sea kayaks.
Phil Askey's site is still tops for me. Steve's is next.

I'm not sure about Mac compatibility with the new Kyocera cameras, but they have a very tiny 5-megapixel camera coming out.
The better Sony P-Series cameras are quite good.
