iPod becomes a "cool" / generally known item?

I was watching SNL tonight, and during the weekend update Tina Fey's false daughter came on. There was some mention of an iPod. Beyond this, they seem to be mentioned quite often in various forms of media, often when there is no purposed reference to tech.

If you ask me, the iPod has really struck gold. It seems to bypass the compatibility bullshit, as I like to call it.

I'm still waiting for an episode with Nick Burns and an office with four shiny new white iMacs.

"Go to the Apple file and open the Chooser... MOVE!"

Yeah, everyone seems to know about the iPod. Since a lot of people in my school know I'm a big Mac person, a lot of PC users ask me about the iPod.

I wasn't surprised last night when she mentioned the iPod since they're big Mac people on SNL.

There was one Nick Burns a while ago that showed one of the people having trouble getting songs onto their iPod.

I see people walking around in NYC with iPods all the time.

This morning I got on the train, saw a girl with the white earbuds. She got off a couple stops down, then a guy with the little white earbuds got on.

Two iPod users spotted in one twenty minute train ride.

I should've had my own (need one).

i get stopped a lot at school, or on the street with mine. especially when i've got it plugged in at the labs, instead of pulling my hair out with zip disks. "it plays mp3s and stores your projects?" that's how i marketed it to my parents...as a productivity tool.

    hello!

it is like the "white earbuds cult." i see variety of people in new york city with them. it's funny. grunge/punk kids, probably go to tisch with more money than we will see in 10 years, fashionable girls with their white ipod hidden in their louis vuitton purses, middle aged man with an ipod in his back pack... me with mine in my tiny leather case... we all look at eachother... thinking... "what the freak!" but deep down under we all know that it's likely we all own a mac, and share something in common. we all usually smirk at each other... only those who have to know... i say... it makes walking around new york city much more enjoyable.... and it's much easier to spot than to spot "where's waldo?"

Revenge of the Pod People. They are among us, terrifying record company executives everywhere. To you they might look like normal human beings, but only they can identify each other. Watch for their smirks.

Much truth is spoken. Or should I say written. Lol. When I had mine, I was asked quite a bit about it. Absolutely no one had a bad comment about it, and no one said I was a "geek" for it. Also, there were some girls that thought it was just all the rage. What a great tool.

my pc loving friend just got an iPod,...he loves it, but he is still pretty anti-mac and when I asked him how he liked it he said...well apple is pretty stupid for not including a car adapter and stuff like that...and then I told him that apple never does that stuff...no computer company does, 3rd party companies do, and then I told him about a couple of iPod webpages of where to get iPod related gadgets and he said "oh, cool"

he got the 10 gig iPod...lucky bastard

it doesn't work on his Pc though cause his firewire card isn't enabled and he needs the windows 98 cd to get it working...but he managed to get about 700 songs on it through someone elses computer, he loves his iPod though he got it after he realized his nomad 20 gig jukebox was a piece of shit, so it returned the jukebox and got the iPod.

one thing that is lame though, is that the formated 10 gig drive only store 9.2 gigs...and I forgot that factor, so when I eventually get my 10 gig iPod I won't be able to store all my mp3s cause I have almost exactly 10 gigs...oh well.

iSaw that too... my dad and iLooked at eachother and laughed. Even cooler - On Biography, they had a special on SNL.... EVERYONE uses macs there. They use G4's for Video edits, and iMacs for everything else... including script writing.

Avoid the iPods like the black plague. They are bug ridden - not ready for primetime junk. My friends just died right after the 90 day warrenty ended. Go visit the iPod forum on Apple's site, and they are filled with complaints. I want one myself but I'm waiting for a major revision...not just a larger HD.

Hrmmm, if I get an iPod off of eBay, lets say, can I go to CompUSA and buy an extended warranty for it? Or do I need some kind of reciept from Apple?
