Wow! I mean, wow! Wow wow wow!

You know, call me a dreamer, but I can see a day when all computers will be able to connect to the internet.

    Oh wait...

Actually, that's pretty cool. It's good to see that the Newton hasn't just been forgotten. It still amazes me how many old Macs, sometimes really old Macs, are still in service.

Wow. It posted the message tons of times. I didn't mean for that to happen. No wonder it was taking so long to load the next page. <img src="graemlins/embarrassed.gif" border="0" alt="[Embarrassed]" />

This would have been one long post, but UBB limits you to 8 pictures per post.

    Fran,

Can you provide some details about getting on the internet with your newt? Equipment, settings, apps, etc? Thanks.

    Sure. I have a Newton 2100 with a 3Com EtherLink III 3C589D ethernet card.

I connect it to either my home cable modem or work network.

I also have an Orinoco Silver Card which works with the latest version of the Newton Wireless drivers, but only with software access points. Hardware access points are supported in the next version (hopefully).

I connected to the net with NewtScape and then started up my NPDS (Newton web server). I then connected to the IP of the Newton and captured the current screen of the Newton to get the pictures.

    Simple enough, right?

It's so simple it's amazing that we all aren't surfing the web from our Newtons

Actually, it is pretty cool. I always wanted a Newton 2100 or 2000, but I stopped upgrading after I bought a 130 to replace my 110.

I'm starting to think that Belle is actually a gay man. Only gay men can be as sarcastic as most of "her" posts!
