Issues with this site

Hi I'm having a couple of issues with this website:

I added a comment to an article 2 weeks ago but it is yet to appear. When I tried to re-post a comment to the same article it gave me an odd looking window asking for the password in basic authentication. Is that normal for this website?

Also, more importantly I cannot log in to this forum with IE8, it gives me this text:

AJAX response unable to be parsed as valid JSON object.

Probably because you're a new user.

    Huh. Could you screenshot it?

Probably. Please use a modern browser (read: something that isn't IE).

I know, but I'm serious. IE8 was 2009, and, well… it's IE. It's not going to play well with anything. But any other browser should work properly.

Your post didn't make it to the site although obviously you made this thread so something worked ok. Maybe you posted some odd characters in your original text?

Stick to Chrome or Firefox for most web usage, IE's primary function is for downloading usable browsers.

The first giveaway was IE8 but the user agent says Windows too.

trying to post comments on WP8 is pretty difficult (or rather posts with quotes). Hence many of my posts have the quote below. If i try to add the text after the quote, this site and WP play silly beggers. The site gives me the copy pop up box or WP doesn't pull up the keyboard...

    Huddler is really broken.

This forum thread looks like this in Safari 6:

It appears to only affect that particular thread. Any ideas? Broken script? Browser compatibility issue?

Also Safari 7, for reference. An error for each of the 1074 lines of code, plus a few extra thrown in at the end.

Looks to have started when Huddler updated their post reply box. But why only that thread? Weird.

    Seems fixed now.

As of late (past few weeks now) this site, from OSX 10.8.4 with latest Safari is acting up (better to call it acting down IMO)

I get an email notification, like always, I click on the link and it seems I'm not logged in as there is only a 'Quote' & 'Reply' button; no 'Thumb-up' nor 'Multi' buttons. Yet I can see who's reading the same thread, I see my name at top, right, indicating I am logged in. This has been the case for the past few weeks, but today it's different: it tells me I should log out an back in again, due to 'Insufficient Permissions':

Should that link not give you the same as what I'm seeing, here's a screendumb:

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Another thing: how can I delete pics I uploaded? Or PM's? Deleted PM's go to the trash, which I cannot empty all at once. If I go into a single PM in the Trash, I can delete it...'moving' it, yep, to the Trash.

I must be missing something here...

I get the same for that link but this link works ok:

    http://forums.appleinsider.com/reputation/details/

Huddler changes behind the scenes a few times so they might have changed the location of some data and not updated email notification links.

Does your gallery have an "edit photos" button? That should let you delete uploaded pics. I'm not sure about PM's. Forums sometimes don't like people deleting things easily as a precaution against accidental damage, e.g someone maliciously logging into another account. Also for data retention reasons.

Not that I’ve seen, at least. I’m bothered by the “keep everything, always” bit for other reasons.

    Thanks for responding Marvin.

The 'sometimes logged in, sometimes not' seems weird. But taking a bett look, it seems to always be after I click on a 'See this post' button in an email. I did notice it happening on my desktop and iPad as well...

The deletion of PM's is weird. There's a Trash, but you cannot empty it. Seems odd to configure it that way. And if a site really wants to 'keep everything' why not say so once looking in the Trash?

The photos I can delete, like you said, by editing them. Strangely enough only from the Default folder. There's also some 'embedded' folder that I cannot delete. Also seems weird.

    Thanks for the help.

New thing popped up today: the taggin feature:

I sure hope other will find it useful as I find it infuriating, seeing it pop up whenever I double click a word I want to copy. Can't find a way to turn it off...

Today? Huh, I’ve had it for months. It also suggests existing tags for stories. They’re always wrong.

Maybe that was just me that found see it. Though, given my current “standing”, why me?

Seen it first yesterday. Truly annoying. Like, excruciatingly annoying. Like MS Word, Clippy, the MS dog 'can I help you look for something' type of annoying!

New one today, seeing [ COLOR=000000 ] [ /COLOR ] in peoples' post when I reply. Not that it does anything, it's just weird. mstone gave a really good info over here, but can it be fixed?
