any games out there to download to an iPod?? then iPod could replace a mp3 player, a pda (if all you want is address book and calender) and gameboy (if you don't mind black and white and simple games)...g
They need to let 3rd parties in. Gee, then maybe someone could make a FireWire MICROPHONE! *sigh* Apple is so stupid sometimes. Great products, dumb as sh*t company.
FlashGordon are you sure there are no hacks are programs out there? None?
They have to add a "Recording" button asap! If they can menage to do that, we'll have the coolest hard drive recorder in the World, so you can plug in your mic and record concerts, etc...
The previous iPod has the Breakout game as an easter egg, however, I think that the current iPod has the Breakout game as a normal feature that you can select through the normal menu selection under the ?extras? category.
So far I know, there aren't any other games for the iPod. But I'm sure that a good hacker probably will implement one, or even Apple itself might want to add more games
As for iPod for gaming.
LOL! Here's an interesting idea, what if BanDai and Apple join forces again?
And your iPod could be the incubation pod for a ?digital? lifeform. LOL!
Anyway. As for a built-in mic on the iPod.
That would be a neat feature to add in future version of the iPod, people could record message memos while they're travelling, and with around of the minimum of 5 GB of storage spaces, that's a LOT of voice memos!
Please send your comments to Apple. Feedback is necessary if you want the iPod to improve.
Though for recording something other than voice memos. The iPod needs more than a built-in mic, it need to have input capability on both its audio jack (the same jack can be used for both audio input and audio output) and Firewire port (using Firewire audio iput device).
Note: A Firewire audio input device would be nice too though, but it would be quite expensive, I doubt that many would buy one even if they said that they wanted it.
I think the physical user interface limits the types of games one can play on the iPod. I'm not so sure I would want to play chess on my iPod. I imagine the jog dial wouldn't even be used.
Actually, I supposed the jog dial could be used to highlight a piece to move. The "cursor" as it were would start in the upper left most square, and moving to the bottom right most. Push the button to select the piece, use the jog dial to move it.
At the most, a driving game, maybe or a maze that moves at a certain speed a person controls...?" <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
It would be really cool if there was just a "games" folder that appeared on your ipod's desktop folder when plugged into your mac. You could just download as many games as you want, and easily remove or add more. There are lots of cool games that I would love to have on my iPod... GTA 3, etc. (kidding). But seriously, imagine playing a simple mario-like side scroller while you wait for a train and listen to to tunes.
The jog dial would be great for all those old games that used a dial like breakout did or back and forth motion. These games include Centipede, Galaga, Space Invaders, MissleCommand, etc...All these games would run great in B&W on the pod. I also like the idea of it being used like a steering wheel.
It is pretty much a foregone conclusion that games will come to the pod, it is just a question of when.

Hmm, perhaps...
