These graphs are so 1982, it looks analogue in a digital world to me.
LOL! I'm fairly certain they are using decimal numeration. The funny thing about the expression 'digital' as meaning modern is that all computer related numeration is binary. We live in a binary world or perhaps a hexadecimal world.
"Will you similarly whine when your non-sanctioned cable destroys your iPhone and you have to buy a new one?"
Nope, as an engineer who's used handheld devices since their inception, I make and use many types of custom cables. So far, in 20 years from HP LX till today, none of my devices have been damaged by a cable. If it did happen, I'd suck it up and simply get it fixed. I'm not saying it's impossible and there are some cables that I look over and just toss before even trying.
But when apple takes a year to make a long cable, then rapes for it, sheese. Or how about the stupid 30pin adapters? The short one won't work with any type of case, the 11" one is just long enough to give you a very clunky adapted cable, say in you car setup. Why not a 1 or 1.5M cable? so the clunky 30 pin parts can be hidden away?
I'm a stock holder and only want Apple to do well, but they have tons of cash and expertise and still leave these glaring loose ends. it's not cool at all.
I'm sure most will upgrade and should to keep current BUT as it turns out, both my kids and I agree, that the new features are great but Jonny can STUFF the new look. We don't like the flat icons at all, icon folders are one handed friendly, but now very few icons per page... messaging is ugly, notes suck, keypads are ugly, my family is not happy and the kids flat out won't upgrade.
PLUS, Thanks for the nice accessory NAG screens! Freaking Apple finally now supplies a nice 6ft charge cable at a reasonable $30? So using non apple cables now gives stupid ass warning messages, dweebs.
Ri-i-i-ight…. well, it's a good idea to double-check your 3rd party accessory sources, since those appear to be electrocuting people in some places…
I guess your kids are in the minority, as the Twitterverse seems to have lit up with glowing reviews in the millions.
It's true then that you can't please everyone, I guess.

Very true. This guy has some kind of angry "Get off my lawn" mentality. Countless of people love the new iOS7, I had to adjust, didn't like at first but now I do, but hey... this guy thinks it's trash... so obviously it's all of US that have the problem, not him.

Yeah, I don't quite believe that his kids don't like it either. The fact that he felt he had to mention that twice seems suspect to me.
Even if he's telling the truth about that, the thing about kids is they adapt easily. Within a day or two they will be loving it and grouchy old guy will still hate it.
Love the Parallax home-screen especially on the iPad. Although I did turn it off for a while to save battery life - it's just too cool, so I turned it on again.
The loading bars and icons are brilliant. Minimalist and clean.
I do wish the option was there to change the white frosted glass to black frosted glass thou. At night it's a lot of light in your face, especially with Safari.
Skeuomorphic design be damned for an OS. This is the forward design direction I think most wanted Apple to go.
I'd like to give Ives full credit for the design, but elements look very similar to an OS8/9 mod I had running with Kaleidoscope back in the day.
Only glitch i've found so far is changing the desktop screen can sometimes stall out, lag, and crashed on me twice. Found waiting 10 secs after changing it before pressing any buttons worked.
Pretty slick overall. Just wish the iTunes Radio feature worked outside of the US.
One sure sign that iOS 7 and the new iPhones are popular and selling well? The iHaters over at C|net are apoplectic, running around with their hair on fire, screaming at the top of their lungs, posting like crazy in every single Apple article published. The F.U.D. is being spread around like $100 bills at a race track. It's really crazy nuts over there. Everything is spinning like a dreidel on Hanukkah. They are truly upset like never before.
32% adoption after 48hours? That's like, freaking ridiculous. If WIndows or Android could ever come close to that, they wouldn't such drastic fragmentation.
It would be nice if Apple could get that kind of adoption with OS X, but that's a little more complex of an upgrade.

I don't have that problem, but I have noticed that texts don't time stamp anymore after the first one. That sucks. Outside of that tiny thing (and I liked the lines on notes before)- love it!

He doesn't have a choice. You either learn to love it, or switch. What's the alternative- android, Microsoft? Blackberry is drab in color- he should go there I guess. If he stays with iOS, he better focus on what he likes, because complaining does nothing but make your life miserable. Maybe he's into that.
Is whatever the newest version of Android is even at half that?
Not even close. Android 4.3 has about 0.1% after a little over a month.
4.2.2 has about 1% after about 7 months.
I think it takes Android at least a year or two to get even to 20%. I think Kit Kat, if it's 64 bit, people will have to buy new phones, and that's going to take at least 6 months after Google announces it before Scamscum and others release their hardware to run 4.4.
It depends on if 4.4 will still run on 32 bit phones and it will still take 6 months before they start upgrading the models they released this year that have 4.2.2 on it. It's just a mess. These phone mfg don't upgrade their entire product line at the same time, nor do they drop older outdated OS hardware when they stop updating the OS. Samsung STILL sells Gingerbread 2.3 phones that will never get updated past that unless Google spits out 2.4. It's just a joke.

They’ll split it. Have a 32-bit and 64-bit, just like Windows.
And then Android Kit Kat Ultimate, Android Kit Kat Enterprise, Android Kit Kat Home Premium, Android Kit Kat Basic… Oh, and Android Kit Kat Ultimate N, Android Kit Kat Enterprise N, Android Kit Kat Home Premium N, and Android Kit Kat Basic N for Europe where it will be made illegal for them to bundle in Chrome. Doubtful. I don't think Android ever comes close to these numbers Apple puts up
From what I could find on appleinsider, the adoption rate for android 4.3 is more than 10000 times slower than iOS 7. < .1% in 4 months vs 20 to 40 percent in 2 days.
I wish I could find the adoption rate article . It was in the past 12 days or so as I recall

I like the zoom in folders and the task manager

And APPL is down 4.89 for the day on massively good news of its blowout sales on new phones and its fabulously successful new iOS.
We wont know if we had "blowout sales of new phones" until the numbers are release.

Yep. I'm really looking forward to those numbers. I'm guessing it will be record breaking.

What kind of useless info is that? How about global?
22% in first 24 hours, globally. That's more like it.
I wonder if Scott upgraded?
NotScott did!
All the more reason for developers to update their apps to iOS 7-and-later-only.
Apple has moved beyond the iPhone OS 1.0 -> iOS 6 era, and they're not looking back.
Developers can and will do the same.

This site shows adoption of 4.1 and 4.2 which is pathetic enough, but it doesn't even mention 4.3: http://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/index.html
