I'm thinking that the 5C will sell better outside of Applestores, like AT&T stores. People that show up at an Apple store on launch weekend are not the same customers buying phones at one of the carriers stores.
That will be the test won't it?
The carriers will be able to give us specific sales information. But ultimately, it's undecided people going in to buy a phone, who don't really care what brand they are buying who will determine if the 5c will be successful.
If the phone vs branded as a kids phone, it most likely won't help it's reputation worldwide where the iPhone has been reported as a status symbol. The 5c may sell very poorly in China for instance if not perceived as well as the Samsung models which sell for less. It's one thing to say "I have the top of the line Samsung" rather than admit you have the "cheap" iPhone.
I'm thinking the 5c should have added something unique to it that sets it apart from the 5s, like the 41 mega-pixel camera on the Nokia. But a repackaged 5, that isn't as nice, yet costs the same is going to be a hard sell. As a result the 4S will probably still be a hot seller and canibalize a bit from the 5c. No wonder Apple kept the 30-pin connector as a deterrent.
2 plastic phones? Somehow I doubt it. I can see the 6 being a 4.3" phone, then the 5s and then the 5c.
At the very least, if past experience is anything to hold onto (which obviously it isn't this time around), the 6 will most likely have a different form factor than the 5 and 5s.
I agree that the form factor for the next top-of-the-line iphone will change. However it is possible that the 5c has shown us Apple's roadmap for mid level iPhones - pack all of last years internals into a cheaper and easier to produce plastic case to arrive at a "new" model to present to the consumer.
I was just in the Scottsdale, AZ, USA store looking at the new iPhones. The 5S is very elegant and you can barely tell the gold one is gold. It is very understated.
The 5c's are definitely pretty!
"c" is for color!
The 5c's look fabulous and the cover looks a lot better in person than what we have been seeing on the web!
The 5s is sold out but Apple still not getting much love from the major networks. CNN says of Apple " Samsung is still eating your lunch!" I hope those sales figures that comes out tomorrow makes them all eat something different. LOL
CNN? 'Major network'? On which planet? " src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

I take your points. But the 5c does look fantastic in person. The 5c and the elegant more powerful 5S rather reminds me of when Apple was selling the MacBook (white) and the MacBookPro (Aluminum). Did I covet the power and design of the MacBookPro? Yep? But I went with the white MacBook b/c it was more affordable and learned to really like the white.
I too, most likely will go with the 5S. It's like an extra $2 a month for me to upgrade my 4S with Sprint. But I sure like the colors of the 5c. And allowing the shiny color of the phone to show thru the holes in the Apple case was sheer brilliance on Apple's part. Even with the "hon" of iPhone showing thru!
I bought my daughter a 5c yellow version and it was the last one walmart had, the sales associate told me they have sold over 300 5c's this last week on preorder and instore, so I guess its where your at. Walmart said that they sold a ton of 5c's. Also the 5c is very solid and not cheap. It feels like it is made from one solid peice of material.
I was just at the local apple store today and they told me they have sold over 1000 5c's, of varying colors, and about 1500 5s's which is there entire stock they dont have either phone in stock (5c or 5s).
And don’t try to give me crap about how “it’s impossible to write “correctly” using normal fonts”. It isn’t. iPhone 5?. And no, that’s not the copyright symbol.
Let's see. You show a dozen or more ways that Apple writes it. Not a single one has a circle around the 'c'.
Then you write it with a circle around the 'c', and claim that's the correct way to do it?
Perhaps, to clear up any "confusion" ... if you were to preface your remarks with... "the analysts will probably say" .... it would leave no doubt that that is, not in fact, your opinion...... because, as you probably know, if it walks like a duck, et. etc. .... Sorry if I wasn't able to "interpret" your thoughts.
Maybe if you were paying attention you would know what I am thinking.
[the original comment, post # 16, tells you we are talking about share price (ie. analyst observations) and then post #23 clarifies it once again]
... but don't worry, Jragosta missed it as well... so did one other person.
The 5s is quite beautiful. And, it's selling like crazy.
I wonder if more are choosing the S over the C either because the C is seen as the "cheap" phone or if more people just see the S as that much better than the C.
I'll say though, that I really have no clue how the C is selling. Talking to my friends though, and from everything I'm reading, it seems like there's a much greater demand for the S.

Anyone out there have any thoughts?
Irving, having just held the C, it certainly does not feel like a cheap iPhone.
It feels quite good in the hand and the colors are shiny and bright. The S does indeed feel elegant and has a completely different feel to the C.
I'm really glad I went to the Apple store to see them first hand, so to speak. Apple has really hit it out of the park. If I could get an S in the blue or green plastic of the C, that's what I would buy.
I'm probably going to upgrade my 4s to the 5S (gold) b/c of the Speed, camera and security.

Best
The Apple leather case takes the 5s to a whole new level, I highly recommend them, I have a product Red version and one I dyed so it's one of a kind.
What in the world do stock options have to do with manipulation? They're entirely unrelated.

Nope? Miss your coffee? You’re not one to misread things at all.

Picked up a black 32GB 5S at Best Buy today. They said they still had a lot.
Sorry, but this needs an explanation. Hopefully without reference to Schrödinger's cat.
5ses than 5s?
5S than 5s
5s' than 5's

How do we know 5s is selling more than the 5c?

Isn't that what Irving Muller is asking?
