They're all integrating Google Maps and search services.

first you say.. they are running Android, but can't back it up. Now you are saying they are running Google Maps.. but I again I say.. "pony up the facts fella".  keep trying.. as far as I know.. everyone is using onboard maps and not going over cell to get Maps.  data please.  else please quit with the propaganda.    Keep in mind cell is not available everywhere.  that is why Nav IVI systems needs on board maps.

Did you seriously just lump Tesla into the same crapagory as Ford? SERIOUSLY?!

Thinking that good, actual reporting might include some sort of reason for why.

Its very simple guys... the IT compartment can get into the Surface and load their corporate spyware etc and lock it down... and hook into corporate Exchange, secure sign-in etc.

With iPad and iOS... not so straight forward. The IT control freeks hate Apple because Apple is control freeks about not letting them be control freeks! Errrr..ya.

And yes, Microsoft probably gave these to them for free. Same old story.

It's a nice corporate bribe. And when it fails stockholders will be left pissed off.

If/when they factor in the eventual cost of maintaining antivirus software for all those Surface 2's, they'll realize they made a bad investment.

My only  guess is they saw how horrible iOS7.

Thanks...  saved me from typing it.

My gut feeling is that MS is giving Delta the Surface laptops for free, on condition that the gratis nature of the deal is never revealed.

The news would play well for them on a web site like AppleInsider.com and other tech enthusiast web sites.

End of year should show payout to Delta by MS and another 9Million write off for Surface 2 products unsold.

This is nuts. MS throwing cash I'm sure to influence Delta. Just like they did with Rockstar to get Grand Theft Auto onto Xbox. Same with Final Fantasy. The question now is%u2026
Can MS afford to buy ALL the airline companies?

Like how they dropped "safety" between 1929 and 1930's :-)

The new iPads will be equipped with the fingerprint sensor that every body wants for convenience. I wonder if Delta pilots will complain to the IT department when the new iPads debutted next week.

Um, that same control IS available to IT departments with iPads.

Our corporate-issued iPads are extremely limited ... cannot use App-Store or add any apps to it, has proprietary apps loaded... corporate can access the iPad and wipe it anytime it is connected to the internet... among other things.  Not because there's anything different about the hardware or OS, but because corporate IT CAN configure them with these restrictions.

(Sure, I could restore it and regain a consumer iPad, but would have no way of loading the corporate apps to it and various other corporate requirements.)

davidc, you are SO right about this statement. Many years ago, I used to see people 'sneaking' their Macs into work because they where a LOT better than working on Windows... I even recall at one stage quoting on some Mac computers to a media outlet -they needed to run DOS, so I showed them DOS running on a Mac, blew them away. The quote got rejected because the organisation that received my quote got brought out by Microsoft. The result was they purchased PC's with windows and was was even more frustrating is that these PC's for some reason COULD NOT RUN DOS at all!

    WTF!!
