Well you could "forward" it with a laptop to an ipod...

    the point is:

a storage media for digital camera on the road

a laptop is good but not as handy as iPod

it's a potential area for iPod to explore other than PDA

Apple (or some third party) would have to develop a FireWire reader (that can adapt to the myriad storage media: CF, SM, SD, MemoryStick, etc.) to plug-in to the iPod.

    Until that time arrives, there's <a href="http://www.mindsatwork.net/index.htm"; target="_blank">this.</a>

I remember seeing a device similar to the Mindstor that featured a built-in LCD screen so that you could preview downloaded pictures on the road as well. I forget what the device was called, but both <a href="http://www.dpreview.com"; target="_blank">DPReview</a> and <a href="http://www.steves-digicams.com"; target="_blank">Steve's Digicams</a> reviewed it when it came out.

In any case, I agree with firehc that the ability to transfer pictures from memory cards to the iPod would be a great feature.

    I agree, as well.

As a lark, I plugged in my Lexar CF FireWire reader into my iPod: no dice.

yeah, something like Mindstar would be perfect for iPod.

I think all iPod needs is to add a USB port!

Here are a couple of other sites :

    <a href="http://www.jobodigital.com/products/vista.htm"; target="_blank">JOBO - Nixvue Vista Product Page</a>

    <a href="http://www.delkin.com"; target="_blank">Delkin Devices, Inc. - eFilm Products - PicturePAD</a>

They're pretty much the same product, just different colors is all
