Neither of those two reasons are valid, programs programmed with the Cocoa API or compiled under GCC 3.1 are not restricted to 10.2+. The dependencies are driven by the AddressBook and other iApps as noted in second post. The fact it is a central feature of a paid upgrade is the motivation for using underlying system features not available in 10.1.x.
Little bit off topic here. I've been trying to set up iChat. My wife has an aol account. I've tried to enter her screen name as a buddy. The only choices though for entering a buddy is either aim account or .mac account. If I just enter her screen name as an aim account...she doesn't show up. Is there a way to make her appear or does she have to register her screen names with aim?
