Honda Element & the iPod

Honda has a brilliant upcoming vehicle called the ELEMENT, which is what the CRV should have been all along if you asked me. One of its neat features is the ability to jack into an external source, ostensibly an MP3 player. ALL cars should have this feature.

I was already digging the thing when they flashed that little detail onscreen and I just about hooted out loud when I saw it.

Those things are tiny. The Element is smaller than a CR-V.

When you say jack into an external source are you talking about an auxilary jack like the one that I already have on my Sony X-Plod cd player? All I do is turn the source to AUX. and plug my iPod into it and there ya go. If so I don't think that it's enough reason to buy such and "UGLY" vehicle.

I've got a Pontiac Bonneville (97 SSE model for the car junkies out there) and recently I had Tweeter do an install of a new cd deck and I had them run the auxilary input from the back of the deck, and they ran the monster cable up and out my cup holder. I picked up that "European" iPod cup holder and I'm rocking the 10 GB iPod like a mofo <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Don't trust those rice burners, get yourself an American car and have Tweeter do the install just like I got, it's dyno-mite!

I normally like weird designs and I have even been known to appreciate boxy concepts, but that thing is UGLY!! Holy god. I haven't seen anything that ugly in a LONG time. Well, it's kinda ugly?I know I wouldn't buy one.

And here's some pritty microbus to counteract the horribly ugliness. (It's coming in 2005 or sooner!)

The Mini Cooper will also have a jack ready for the iPod.

The clash curves+edges look of most new model cars don't do it for me. It's the Chris Bangle stuff. I detest it.

The Microbus is ugly as well.

I do like the retro Mini Cooper though...my dad owned a Morris Mini Minor...the Austin's slightly less powerful twin...

The Microbus is BAD ASS inside! I can't really explain it right now but go here:

The Element is so ugly I think you'd have a better chance of getting laid by driving around in a white Pontiac Aztec ridin' on 14's.

The Microbus is of a totally different class than this thrown-together Honda monstrocity. I mean, really. Just look at them.

But don't listen to little old me..

Just watch <a href="http://www.vw.com/microbus_h/movie.htm"; target="_blank">this three minute movie about the microbus</a> and try to tell me that you don't think the Microbus is cool.

Because the Microbus is dissimilar to the Honda Element it's not ugly? It's possibly uglier than the Element to me.

I expect more from the company that makes beautiful cars like the current Passat, Jetta, Phaeton, etc.

I'm not sure the Microbus is that ugly, for a minivan at least. That Honda isn't great looking (kinda ugly), but if they managed to pass AWD under that flat floor and provide a big unobstructed interior box in a very small package, then it's at least interesting.

Anyone else disappointed by the new beetle? Looks kinda big and frumpy sitting on that golf platform the way it does, The original concept, more Polo than Golf in size just looked so good, and since the back seats are useless in both (unless you're 5'3") they should have gone with the smaller concept proportions. Oh well.

    The MiniBus looks gay.

The Element looks just plain ugly.

I am surprised all companies do not put audio jacks in the cars interiors, those and an AC jack, would be quite helpful.

I think the minbus is supposed to look gay.

Personally, I like a lot of the features in that concept truck, the AAC or whatever it is called. The pop up compass/tilt/roll guages, the built in anchoring rack for cargo, the variable shock absorbers.

It is also kind of ugly though unfortunatly. Ah well, not like I will be able to afford any time this side of winning the lottery.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Element has the face of a French-bulldog...or some other Pug kinda face?

Well, I like the Element (saw video of it on a television show) and I think the Microbus is a fantastic design. The Element shown on the web is still a proto, Honda is nothing if not conservative in most of their products. They're going to sell a whack of these things anyway.

I'm seriously considering the Cooper or the Element for my next car. I'll need to drive both as I shop for other cars. VW is in the running too. We'll see what mean old Mister Budget says when that time rolls around....
