Run your fingers along the phone cord from your Mac to the outlet. Is it hooked up?

Just kidding bro... it's working for me too.

Ok cool...sorry about the wrong info. (I use a cable connection so thank god tracing phone cables is a thing of the past! but boy have I been there!)

However, I have just double checked and I'm still getting zip, absolutely nothing on my email or browser...really bizarre

Cheers all, it must be a problem at my end although I haven't a clue what! Knowing my luck, after all the waiting, all the update action will kick off when my Mac is throwing a tantrum....

By the way, I'm not an expert web master or anything, but I've done a little, and I never have to shut a web page down to change it.

I just upload the files and it works. When you hit reload it's there. No down time. Why couldn't Apple have all its new files stored on a local hard drive, and then upload them all, and voila?

Why does the Apple store have to go down at all to be changed?

while the file is replacing the original service doesn't drop out on your website? you must be a magician.

maybe because the last thing they need is screwing up cred card transfers and thousands of dollars simply because of a page address change

The apple store took 5 min. to load on IE and a DSL internet connection.

If there's new product coming the Apple Store page will be closed down for an Update as it will say as such. That's the only time you'll know (other then a Press Release) that the new PowerMacs are arriving.

Everything's working normal for me. In fact, I just got an email in my mac.com inbox. Store loads in less than 10 seconds too.

it was propably related to some routing problem regarding all akamai "powered" servers in europe... i don't know if you are from europe, but several people here experienced that problem... it was solved some hours later...

I'm in the UK, so the server problem could indeed explain it...I thought I was going mad there for a while

I've heard that they have to take the whole sight down because of their use of webobjects.

I've been having spotty access to apple.com over the last week or so. Other sites work fine. Maybe a particular backbone is having issues. I'm on the west coast.

I've had some problems with Apple's site lately too. The main page has made both IE and OmniWeb crash a few times and it's just been very slow compared to usual.

I know of other servers in California that were having trouble yesterday. I believe it was an issue with one of the backbones.
