upgrading Mac OS X

in macOS edited January 2014

Hello;

I Have a Mac Mini with OS X 10.7.5 on it. I want to upgrade it but i don't know how to or what to get. If I don't want to spend much, what would be my best option ?

Thanks in advance :)

    You can upgrade the OS to 10.9 using the App Store software. You can upgrade the RAM buying from Crucial (max 16GB) and you can get an SSD to replace the hard drive.

    The OS upgrade is free or if you have to get an intermediate update, no more than about $10-20. 16GB of RAM would be about $150 but you might get by with 8GB. 250GB Samsung SSD is $170:

    You can get a 500GB for $340. The SSD will be a bit tricky to install but not too bad and there's a guide on ifixit to help. You'll need the right tools to do it.

    but is 10.9 the best i can do ? Is it not possible to upgrade to latest versions ?
    Plus, if i do the upgrade, will it be necessary to go for the new RAM and SSD or what i have will work properly ?

    Oh, I thought you meant you wanted to upgrade the Mac Mini hardware when you asked about options. You didn't mention the spec you have but the OS minimum requirement is 2GB RAM so I'd expect what you have now should be fine. The OS X upgrades don't usually need more than the previous versions.
