The price isnt even that bad comparatively. Look at all you can do with it too. The iSync function, address's, game, stores files, and calendar, as well as clock.
I am sorry if I have responded so many times to this topic but I am a huge believer in the iPod. I have the original 5 GB and I just love this thing.

Alrighty, Eastside9. You're sure that on Wednesday, February 19, 2003, we'll see new iPods?
Why don't you take a stab at that much talked about 15.4" PowerBook, too?
if new ipods come out tomorrow, cause i had been earmarking my 300ish dollars for the academic version of FCP, but due to some ingenuity by a friend of mine... long story short, i can buy an iPod!!!!!!
ooooh, i want to 20 to go down to 400, cause i'd pay it!!!
If the 20 GB got within $100 of the Zen, I think I'd get it. I read a couple reviews... looks like the Zen costs quite a bit less for the capacity. However, both reviews seemed slightly lukewarm. They liked it but basically they said you get what you pay for. There are too many buttons on it and it can be slow to respond according to the reviews. Also it requires Creative's software to work. However, it supports WMA (whoop de do, Basil...) and it apparently has better sound quality because of the higher signal-to-noise ratio.
So I suppose $200 extra is a bit too much for the iPod, but $100 extra probably wouldn't be.
my 10gig(scroll-wheel) ipod's hard-drive continues to spin when unmounted....
Apple claims it is normal, and does not suggest having it plugged in for extended periods via firewire.
They also claim that when plugged-in to my iMacDV, the screaming squeal of the ipod drive is also normal (only for the iMacDV...my ti800 and pismo dont cause the scream of pain)
I sure hope so, but because I am looking to buy soemthing within the next 9 months. If they release something new tomorrow, that means I can get something for less when I am ready to buy. I personally just want the ability to RECORD in uncompressed AIFF or MP3 or any quality not to mention MP4. That would be a done deal for me, and I would consider purchasing within a month. What would be cool is if somehow they could put the jack on the hold button and also support optical, like a minidisc player has to save connections. I do not see how they could make mroe room at the top, but then again, I don't have one anymore, so I cannot truly say that, and they would of course be redesigned.
We don't know why Apple as chosen not to release the new iPod at this time, most likely issues with FW800 and future updates to OSX.3 have pushed back the iPod update.
See, you too can sound just like MOSR, it's easy and fun too!
